I spent 2 months exploring Peru in1983......fabulous people. Cheap then. Many great places to see besides the well known tourist attractions. Yes, road trip. Train trip. Just go.

My favorite place in the world! Go every year now! Been to Pucallpa, Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Next dream place in Arequipa and Colca Canyon.
