  • Can you imagine waiting 23 years to one day serve Gordon Ramsay and you serve him apple juice. I'd literally die
  • Little update: The hotel actually did well after the show. Sadly in september 2021 Layla passed away and in late 2022 the hotel was sold after Sandy had a heart attack in February that same year. Layla's riverside lodge is now called Sugar Maple Inn. Sandy now owns SSS Ranch farm & kennels, where he breeds English Setters and has all kinds of farm animals.

I knew Hugh Laurie did a good American accent from House, but him playing a struggling innkeeper is incredible.

Layla’s is my favorite Hotel Hell episode. You can tell the owner actually cares and that the employees do too. Also, it was so satisfying seeing those small dog kennels turned into something nice. I would’ve let my dog stay there if she weren’t such a gremlin. It sucks to hear it isn’t around anymore but I’m happy that it lasted as long as it did and that the owner has new horizons!

For those that don’t wanna look up the status of the location, it’s closed as of 2023. Layla’s was actually getting good business and had a 4.5 star rating. The owner had a heart attack last year and decided to sell the hotel to a new owner. The name will be changed to Sweet Maple Inn, but that’s all I know

It greatly amuses me to think that Gordon probably shelled out thousands of pounds to fly his bulldog halfway around the world in first class for a 10-second cameo.
  • The way the chef broke down when he was appalled at serving Gordon Apple juice concentrate fucking broke me. He cares deeply about being a good chef.
  • @BeamerFonz
I feel bad for that chef. You can tell he really wants to have the freedom to make the meals he wants. He has the passion he just needs the freedom
  • @zakkarykeith
I laughed way too hard when he checked the dogs pulse lmaooooo Gordon is actually funny

This is my favorite Gordon Ramsay makeover. The innkeeper was so grateful, and he listened to Gordon without ego or attitude. I wish him the best of luck.

second half: They didn't want a hotel, they wanted a frathouse.
  • I’ve been bingeing the series and this is probably the most heartwarming - no animosity or fighting, just an owner with no experience but who seemed to have a good heart, and the whole staff is passionate about the place and wants to see it succeed.

5:53 Gordon acting like he had no clue they weren't the actual Four Seasons lol he kills me
  • @Evendaruil
Gordon is far from ashamed to share his butt😂 Gets me a good laugh every time. I love how he doesn't care.
  • normally, there's some kind of issue with the people, but in this case, the guy just didn't know what to do. I can't think of a group more deserving of Gordon Ramsay's attention and the chance they were given. I hope it all turned out well. It's really nice to see people who deserve good things actually get them. A lot of justice was done in this episode.
  • Lmao at the lady who went to a dog friendly inn and complained about the barking 😂🎉
  • @GoldenAgeMath
45:08 Imagine just going to a museum and there's a surprise Gordon in one of the exhibits.

I have never seen such a grateful humble owner willing to accept help like Sandy. I wish nothing but the best for him and hopefully his health will get better. It’s refreshing to see a respectful and kind owner for once.
