How POWERFUL is Captain America REALLY? (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Published 2020-12-08
A video essay on Captain America from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I made this in the summer of 2019, and it sat on my PC for one-and-a-half years while I was doing other stuff. I decided to throw it out there as it took a while to research and make at the time.

"Cap has displayed some competent tactics" gotta be the biggest understatement I've heard today.

I have a few things to say about Cap's intelligence. You can see signs of Cap's intelligence if you pay enough attention to the movies. One note before I begin. The super soldier serum had enhanced cap's mental capacity, giving him eidetic memory. In Captain America: The First Avenger, there was a scene where he recalled the image of the map he glimpsed briefly in the HYDRA facility he took out when saving Bucky (he was telling Peggy about it after he returned from the mission). But, of course, eidetic memory doesn't mean intelligence, so let's move on. 1) The Avengers Steve suspected that Loki was letting them take him into custody on purpose. This is what he said during The Avengers movie in 2012: "I wonder why he let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Stark also trusted Steve enough to let him coordinate the team during the Battle of New York. 2) Captain America: The First Avenger He came up with a plan to infiltrate Red Skull's HYDRA facility near the end of the movie. 3) Captain America: The Winter Soldier Steve suspected that something was amiss when Rumlow was giving them a mission briefing before he and the STRIKE team took on the pirates on the Lemurian Star. He was also astute enough to realize that Jasper Sitwell being on that launch ship was suspicious. When he entered the elevator after his meeting with Alexander Pierce, he instantly knew that something was wrong (that he was about to be attacked) when he observed the behavior of the HYDRA/SHIELD agents inside that elevator. This proves that although he is no Tony Stark, Steve has a sharp mind. After surviving The Winter Soldier's ambush on the causeway, he immediately pieced together how Bucky must have survived the fall in the 1940s. "What's Sitwell doing on a launch ship?" 4) Captain America: Civil War He infiltrated the Raft in order to rescue Clint, Sam, Wanda, and Scott. He wouldn't have been able to pull that off without a considerable amount of intelligence. He was also smart enough to realize that something was amiss with the psychiatrist (Zemo) sent to conduct Bucky's mental assessment. These are just a few examples showcasing Steve's intelligence. I'm sure there are a lot more in the movies that I haven't included.
  • Cap can literally calculate every angle his shield makes when he throws it- and the angle hit where it can return to him

Let me explain: the Super Soldier Serum gives you the ability to learn quickly. Cap used this when he lifted Mjolnir for the first time, in just a few seconds he knew how to use it perfectly!!! So also when he was trained by Shield in martial arts, 3 months of training for a super soldier would be like 2 whole years, Steve trained for at least 3 years, so it's like 24 years of experience in martial arts. This goes for experience too!!! He returned in 2011 and stayed until 2023, 12 years, but for Him it was like 36 years or much more.

Well you’ve gotta think too, think of all the detective work he’s done. He knew Zemo was gonna try and mind control Bucky, he found where Bucky lived. Easily able to break into a highly fortified base for the Falcon suit. There’s other factors other than Caps scientific knowledge. He’s also a master at geometry, people don’t know but that’s why the sheild always came back to him the comics. But it was a good cideo
  • being a peak human is literally impossible in our world, like no one could ever be as fast as bolt and at the same time deadlift 500 kg like Hafhor bjornsson, and at the next day run a marathon (42 km) in less than 2 hour like kenesina bekele. So being a peak human is a super human feat that only comic book characters can do

Captain America can fight toe-to-toe with Thanos but loses to Captain Vietnam.

    I know you’re doing MCU not 616 but if cap isn’t a 7 fighting skill I don’t know why there’s a 7 on the scale.
  • @Herosbatles888
It's Worth 75 Tons of Force. Because He Lifted the Giant Steel Structure That Weighs Well Over 30 Tons, In This Scene Cap was Wounded and Bruised, Weakened and Still Managed to Lift It. Have you ever heard of a mention in Agents of Shield where Cap Pushed a 58 Ton Excavator 164 Feet In Less Than 16 Seconds!!!
  • @rayc3103
Mostly right, but one off from strength and 1 more on intelligence, and 1 more on fighting
  • @riugga9596
great video dude I would love to see a moonknight one and blackknight
  • @Herosbatles888
I Want This Super Soldier Serum For Me. It's Very UPP.
  • There is no way cap is in the 25 to 75 ton range, even with those MCU feats. Maybe 5 ton range. Only way Cap has more strength is with Mjolnir. He held back the helicopter briefly, but it wasn't like he was tossing the thing around like Thor or Hulk. Lifting the beam off Bucky was just an adrenaline surge. He moved it just enough. He wasn't yeeting the thing.
  • I don’t get how people say mcu cap is stronger than the comics with a straight face
  • Id give at least one point from strength to Intelligence, hes leader but not a powerhouse
