To be fair, even though his parents are controlling; it's down to him to be an adult and to make his own decisions. He allows himself to be totally controlled by them. Even the way he speaks; the guy acts like he's still 18. If he wants his parents to treat him like an adult, he should be acting like one.

My son is married to a great girl. He and I have a good, healthy mother-son relationship. I can't imagine ever asking questions or offering opinions about their sex life or their reproductive choices. EVER! That would be so incredibly awkward for all of us. If someone asked him who is the most important woman in his life and he didn't immediately choose his wife, I would be very concerned about him. When he was a little boy, I was most important to him - now his wife is and that is how it should be.
