Best reading month yet? 👀| January reading wrap up ✨📚

Published 2024-02-01
Hey everyone, 👋🏾

How's everyone doing? 🫶🏾

I've read a total of 5 books for January, and three of them I rated 5 stars ⭐️ so I’m really chuffed with that! It’s been a fab month of reading. I certainly needed it as I’m not a huge fan of January. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books, or if you have any recommendations for any similar books that you’ll think myself, or anyone else would enjoy!

I'll speak to you in the next one! 💗

Always risky to revisit things you have childhood nostalgia for. I'm sorry you didn't have more fun reading Twilight, but I'm glad overall you had a great reading month!

I think Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books are best consumed via audio!! The performances are always top tier, so I’m not surprised you loved Daisy Jones and the Six!! Carrie Soto is back in my opinion is even far better

AHHH life is strange!! play before the storm first so you can learn all about chloe and rachel’s relationship it’s so GOOD! also you’ve just convinced me to start sugar baby, great vid!!
  • @Alien-Babe
Omggg that clip of you when you were halfway through reading Twilight took me RIGHT BACK to being 14 and laying on my bed with my best friend, both of us reading Twilight and stopping at intervals to talk about it. What a flashback! Love your videos, thank you for sharing!

I loved hearing about the games you'd been playing! So many booktubers also play games and it makes me happy. We love stories!
  • Hi Nickelle, I think that the main character in Yellowface is meant to be annoying 😂 She is supposed to come across as a terrible human being. Looks like you had a really good reading month 😊 Hope that you’re well!

I love the gaming chat! I feel like there's such a crossover between gaming and reading, especially for more story driven games! I'd recommend Life is Strange: Before the Storm if you've just finished Life is Strange! I haven't played Life is Strange 2, because the reviews said it wasn't as good as the first one BUT I've played Life is Strange: True Colours which was AMAZING and I'd highly recommend that one! 🥳

As people grow, interests and tastes change and even something that was your favourite thing a few years ago or in childhood can (sadly) become not so enjoyable anymore. I had a massive shift in my likes and dislikes a couple years ago and I honestly struggled to come to terms with the fact that so many of my childhood favourites were no longer there anymore. This year I've decided to reread all the books on my shelves because of it and see what I still like, now that I'm more understandable of that fact. But I totally hear you in feeling sorry for revisiting something and tarnishing your memory of it!!

in yellow face, the whole point is that the characters are supposed to be insufferable. But i’d say you should give RF Kuang another try with Babel!! it’s such a fantastic book with a very big theme of tackling colonialism and racism within academia and in general. it’s so so fantastic
  • @ReadingwithMars
I’m going to read Sugar, Baby right after my CR. I’m so glad you loved it because I originally heard about this book from you! You have also convinced me to listen to Daisy Jones and The Six. I’m so excited!
  • @starryxblue
Great video! I’m so excited to read Cleopatra and Frankenstein
  • @LaratheLogophile
This is the push I needed to finaly get around to readjng Cleopatra and Frankenstein. ... Valentines day treat to myself.
  • @Sarah-hd6ow
Had never heard of Cleopatra and Frankenstein till this review but had just finished my last book when I watched this so downloaded on my kindle on your recommendation. Think I loved it just as much as you- finished it in 3 days even while working and looking after my toddler. Glad I listened to you and didn’t let some of the the negative reviews on Goodreads put me off, I agree with everything you said about it 😊
  • @auntyanjola
YAYYYYY!! I’m sooo glad you liked Daisy Jones and the Six 🥹🫶🏾 I still think about it all the time! Agreed I gave Yellowface 3 starts too! The characters were insufferable and it was too long 🤣 Loved this video as per usual 🥰🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
