I BRIBED a Farmer to Fish his Untouched Lake... Here's what happened!

Published 2024-06-23
Fishing two private farm lakes with special permission, that haven't been touched for YEARS! Big fish have been swimming in here, but what are they, and can we catch them? I mostly focused on Perch fishing in this video, lure fishing for perch, and the place was full of them.

As always, thank you very much for watching. I really hope you enjoyed the video! If you did, don't forget to drop a like, subscribe to see more and leave a comment to let me know what you think!

A big thanks to Neil from Carlson's fishing shop in Kendal for helping arrange permission for me to fish here, it's massively appreciated! If you're coming to the Lake District and need to get some tackle on your way in, it's a great shop located in a very convenient location.

Aloha. This reminded me of being a kid in Ohio. Our neighbors across the road raised cows. They had a small pond that nobody fished, not the kids or the parents. I would literally knock on their door with my zepco outfit, a bucket and tackle box and ask the Smiths if I could fish. They always said yes, and I’d traipse down the dirt track. Loaded with big bluegill, sunfish, shellcrackers, plus some bass. I’d use worms, crickets, grasshoppers and any else for bait. Just a hook, bobber, and split shot. Beautiful days, and some good fried panfish.

What a treat to fish a virgin water - extremely rare. Does anyone remember Mr Crabtree who used to advise on fishing techniques in the 1960s 70s? He used to talk about the angler keeping low to avoid their shadow falling on the water .... I think he would have seriously disapproved of wearing a bright red fleece!

Beautiful video. I own five acres on a 200ish-acre pond full of three-pound largemouth bass. I live on the coast of Maine, so if you ever want to come fish it, you may.
  • My 2 cents is that the pond is probably overpopulated with small fish. Taking a bunch of them out would allow the remaining ones to get bigger. Nice video!

Great when you find a water like that George. A cousin of mine had a couple on their farm over Fleetwood way many years ago, and they were stuffed with Rudd of al sizes.

As a boy in a Oxfordshire there was a local small stately home, it had two small lakes, as a 13 yr old I wrote to the owner asking permission, and she allowed four people a year permission, there were lots of Roach medium size carp, and Tench, we never thought there were predators, on an impulse we put a lure on and the result were two Perch over 4 Lbs

The perch weren't the same size, it was the same hungry perch!😂
  • I see you were catching a lot of "Thousand Brethren". Always fun to see people catching smaller fish.

These are my dream type of venues.

    ‘I don’t think it’s big enough for pike’ - lakes like a reservoir 😂

now then, buddy. What a crashing video and cracking little spot. You always seem to find them little places. But there is some lovely stripey’s hiding in there somewhere. hope all is well with you and the family, my friend and all the best as always. 👍🥰😁🎣😎😃
  • Nice to see these sort places still exist. Your story of seeking permission from the farmer is not dissimilar to what happened back in 1950 when a gentleman sought permission to fish an estate lake in deepest Hertfordshire. The rest is history. I hope you get the same rewards.

i have a telescopic rigged n ready rod which also comes with 3 different tips for different lureweights and its a massive treat to fish with. especially because its compatible with both a spinning and a baitcaster reel. not seeing many people who also have a rigged n ready setup so always fun to come across one in my recommended
