My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

Links are affiliate links where they can be - meaning if you click through them and buy something, I'll get some pennies. Thanks! (The FTC wants me to tell you that up front)

I hope you enjoyed this wander into the 2nd arrondissement! Grab all my recommendations in my guide at parisinmypocket.com/ and thank you for watching!

Fun fact the passages (covered galleries) existed before the creation of the hausmannian boulevards. The central streets were narrow, crowded and famously muddy back then, so the passages were welcome !

That library - wow! The reading room looks awesome and that ceiling in the museum hall is amazing. Yeah I like Rue Montmartre ; I prefer it to Rue Montorgeuil. Thanks for another top video Jay 🙏

I stayed 4 nights in the second. Walking around to eat and shop, it felt isolated from tourists. I loved it.

Thanks, Jay! The second is my favorite and you showed me some new places to go. I really like to stay there, too, because it is close to the Louvre and the Seine, and fairly quiet. All the best to you and Coop!

So fun, Jay! The 2nd is one area I’ve not spent a lot of time in. This video definitely gave me several reasons to go. Thank you!

Love the 2nd - loved Canard et Champagne in Galleries Vivienne. Had a dream last night I ran into you in Paris and was asking how Cooper was

Fond memories. I stayed on Rue Montorguiel in a sweet little apartment above Le Compas. Great neighborhood to come home to.

First trip to Paris in May this year: stayed in the 2nd Arr (near Bonne Nouvelle Metro stop). Was totally spoilt for choice for food and an evening beverage. Originally chose there as it’s a pretty central for most things (apart from Tour De Eiffel 😂 ) but was pleasantly surprised at variety and quality of the food and drink establishments within a 5 to 10 minute walk from my hotel😎

We stayed in an AirBnB just above Bone Shaker. Great place to stay. And the donut smell in the morning is awesome. The area was the absolute best for food.

It’s Part 1 of the Grand Finale! Also, yes to more Food and Drink.

Paris has good food to try. But be careful some tourists traps that are expensive and not great. Years ago I spent a 15 euros smoothie to land it in the trash, even though I was so thirsty on that hot day. They have so many places that range Michelin grade, good so delicious and very affordable and you got to do some research or get references from your hotel

Keeps getting better, the camera shots are top notch. But Jay, there are some good places to eat even on Rue Montorgueil, my kid loves L'Escargot and their mega snail plater and the onion soup is great with a pastry hat on it. But yes the 2nd is food central if not quite as good as the 6th, with Aux Lyonnais, Palais Royal, and Grand Colbert are worth doing.

Loved the series. Have you considered making prints of your handmade arrondissements map available for purchase?

The last two times I tried to visit the BNF it was closed so now I have another place to go in Paris. Thanks for showing it.
