I met Flip Wilson on the fishing boat Miss Chris in Cape May, NJ. I believe it was like 79'. Super nice man. I was a 15 year old white kid and he took time to talk to me. He was genuinely interested in a white kid who loved his show. Hard to explain but he really put you at ease. Fun to be around. Grest memory.

I used to think I wanted to have that kind of "fun", because I was too young and dumb to be scared.. With age comes wisdom. I now know that so called fun is the gateway to a form of slavery that I was blessed enough to be spared from..

In the 70’s, I was a teenager in a middle class white family and we LOVED The Flip Wilson Show. We loved his character Geraldine. Flip will be happy to know we never thought anything more than that he was playing a character for comedy.
  • It's not about talent. it's about what you're willing to do for fame and fortune. People don't win awards (Grammys & Oscar's, etc). For a job well done. They win these awards based on the nastiest things they're willing to do.

As a child and teenager , I enjoyed watching Flip Wilson Show. He was very funny!! When I reached my 30's is when I questioned his sexuality. Thank you for clearing this up that Flip was straight, but Hollywood would only let him have a show if he played it as a woman. Such a disgusting stranglehold Hollywood has on actors.
  • Not to mention Flip Wilson's recurring gig on Rowan and Martin's Laugh in. Here comes the Judge
  • I love his interviews. All the OGs are passing away. These are Gems!

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

OG said, I kept a CUT-LASS on me. He letting you know, he didn’t mind slicing for his bread 😂

Some of the old school Actors and bodyguards were strategically and forward thinking about Black folks as a whole, UNLIKE most of today’s Actors. 🤔✌🏾👈🏾
