It came out nice. If you want straighter roots, get a set of Tension Rollers! They grip well & the dry time is SUPER fast!
  • Girl that’s how I grew my hair, I’m an expert doing rollers, but I don’t use the clips to hold or the other part, I use the big Bobby pins that hold better, I put the Bobby pin all do the way to the back of the roller so my roots will be flat, and I use only comb with metal holder which help me to part my hair great! And most of the Bobby pins that has fuller end, are better bc when is going into your hair won’t hurt, and another tip is made sure the end of your hair is completely flat on the roller that’s very important! And go into the dryer in low heat , or medium not high, if ur hair is still wet at the end go back, and they sell a piece that u can put it all the way around to protect ur face and ears from the heat! Hope this helps my hair is pass waist length, and after my hair is dry, i do exactly what u did at the End of the video and the next morning while I put my creams I reverse All my hair to the front and I do only one roller with my fingers and Wao! I look like I have soft big curls!!!!

We used to do this with the pink Dippity Do in the 60s. We used wire rollers and large Bobby pins. Don’t know how it would work in type 4 curls because my friends and I who did this had 3c hair to 2c hair. The large Bobby pin through the wire roller lets you get the roller snug to the root. It does take an hour or more to dry. Now I just use the Revlon blow dryer brush. I’m done in 30 minutes. But this is a great result. It must be completely dry. You can also wrap this after you take it down and that will pull the roots straighter. Also buy a mini flat iron and use it to touch up your edges. Keep the heat low.

I remember this back "in the day". Glad to see it's coming back 🫠
  • oH YES, in the 70's we would use orange juice cans. We did not have the huge plastic curlers... or at least we didn't find them to buy. We'd wash our hair, towel dry, add Dippity-doo and smooth on a juice can once or twice around then add a can and stack the curlers! then wrap our head in a muslin dish cloth and roll up a towel for our neck at night. No pillows. we'd sleep on a neck roll. By morning our hair would be mostly dry. By stacking the curlers the root would be the straightest! you may try stacking and see if it works. Wavy ends are always nice. God bless you. and thanks for a great video.

Omgggg i just became a rollerset girl, best decision EVER. My process is a bit different than urs. I like using just water and a spray heat protectant, on colorwow. I also use the Ethiopian rollers with the small teeth/ridges bc my hair is coilier than urs. Lastly, i use a heated straightening brush on my roots…i love ur routine!

Thank u for this. You slayed it! In the 90's this was my go- to method. I tried it 2 months ago and i lost the technique. So i needed to see this.
  • You look fabulous! I’m used to roller sets and lots of time under the dryer.👩🏽‍🦳

Omg I used to love wrapping my hair! I’ve had locs for the past 15 years and I totally forgot how I used to love that part about having loose hair 😂 you just brought it back! ❤

Your hair is beautiful! Decades ago my hairstylist convinced me decades ago to do roller sets. I'm still doing roller sets to this day. I'm now in my 70's, gray chaired and natural hair. My issue now is finding a good setting lotion, cream or oil that would help with keeping moisture in my hair. I live in the Midwest lots of humidity. Roller sets are definitely worth it. You will notice a big difference in your hair texture plus hair growth.

😩 yasss It really does look like a relaxed perm set! Love it and I get a roller set everytime I get a retouch (the bounce, the shine, its unmatched) unfortunately where I'm from they can't do roller sets on natural hair (especially for type 4zs ) or else I'd definitely go back natural, with my primary style being roller sets cause sometimes I miss the curls.
  • @afrodite2366
Yes. I WILL be doing this all summer. Already have all of the supplies. Loved the video, super informative. 🫶🏽
