Audi vs Audi line-ups don’t get much better than this!

Mat’s lining up in the all-new Audi RS3, and he’s facing off against a 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 Group B rally car!!

So let’s compare the stats on these two 5 cylinder beasts! Starting with the RS3, it’s powered by a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo that can put down 400hp & 500Nm. It drives all four wheels and weighs in at 1,575kg. A new one today will cost you around £57,000.

Then we have the rally car. It’s up on power compared to the RS3, with its 2.1-litre 5 cylinder turbo producing 500hp & 480Nm. Naturally, it’s also lighter, tipping the scales at 1,090kg. And given its age, it’s worth a whole lot more than the RS3, with an insurance value of £1,700,000!!

However, there’s one key difference compared to the RS3 - it’s equipped with a 6-speed manual! Will that prove the difference? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

    What’s your favourite classic car??

Imagine how quick the rally car actually was in its day. Game changer that thing 👊
  • @fabscams4136
Over 30 years apart, that level of performance back then must have been astonishing.
  • @Splitscreen83
Those group B cars were absolutely insane. That kind of performance available from snow, tarmac, gravel and mud. Just mind boggling...
  • @djmichie
What a great driver. Obviously the quattro is amazing but manual shifting and winning is amazing
  • I'm glad to see the old quattro win. Allways loved that car. It looks like it's build with lego and is just magnificent.

I can't imagine anyone getting bored of this video, that S1 in full flight is a beautiful scene to witness. Daftest thing about this is that the S1 could replicate the same performance off road as well. Goes to show just how far Group B was ahead of it's time in the 80's.

I wish you had multiple cameras inside that Rally car to see driver’s movements when changing gears etc, interesting race.

I would love if Mat drag race more legendary cars like this insane Quattro Rally!

Finally! I've been waiting for a real Groub B rallycar dragrace my whole life, that was awesome! Bow before lord!
  • @giovannir2080
Group B cars are so crazy! I would like to see also a Lancia Delta S4, maybe one of the more extreme stages like over 600BHP... It would be amazing! 😎

That Quattro is ridiculously fast... imagine how it felt 30 years ago LOL
  • @dillanmistry
Puts a smile on my face after knowing the classics will forever live on
  • @styleemusic
Mind boggling how a car from 1985 can beat 35 years of development. Well done.
  • @dandylion1987
back when turbos were cool, not just mandatory items to meet efficiency targets
  • @ptbfrch
That S1 - it doesn't matter whether it won. It's such an iconic car, all we need is that sound of the motor and its waste gate... Legendary.

Closer than I expected. Great sound, beautiful cars.
