Get a Band 8 in IELTS Listening (in 2024)

I wish I had discovered your channel sooner and not wasted my time on YouTubers with all their so-called tips and tricks. I recently took my test on December 17, 2022, less than a month before it. I was in panic mode and found myself helplessly watching videos about test-day tips with all their steps, structures, and templates. But I felt that none of them was really helping me ease my mind; it actually confused the heck out of me because everyone else said things otherwise. And then I came across one of your videos (IELTS Writing: Transform a Band 6 to a Band 8 Essay), and that was the game changer for me. I binge-watched the majority of your videos in the two weeks leading up to my exam day, particularly those on writing tests. I learned so much in that short span of time compared to the first few months of struggling to find something that made sense. With all that being said, all those sleepless nights and self-loathing, I got an overall band score of 8.0 (L8.5, R8.5, W7, S7) on my first attempt, and I'm quite happy with that. Who knows, maybe if I had found this channel sooner, I could've gotten a higher band, but that is a story for another time! I am 100% agree with you that predicting, underlining,.... before the recording starts help me to get a higher band than my other classmates in practice tests, thank you Chris

Sir it's must be a serendipity that I'm also grappling with my intermediate-level listening skill. Especially, with your analysis about tackling the multiple choice questions, you just pointed out exactly all of my lacking ranging from preparing before listening to during listening. I really need to boost my listening and reading skill ASAP and AMAP but like always stuck in a rut with those skills even though I'm most of the time proud of my extensive range of vocabulary. This first day of the year is very lucky , and it's also my pleasure to fortuitously watch your video.
