  • Jack being shocked how smart the alphabetical organizations is when that's literally what Libraries do. 😂 love you jack.
  • @pobie1162
I worked in a bookstore for over 20 years, so my own home library (which is quite extensive) is like the store. I have them sorted into genre (fiction, romance, sci-if/fantasy, mystery, non-fiction) and then within each genre the books are alphabetically arranged by authors surname. I can always find anything with my eyes closed. It is sooooo satisfying having such order…..must be my type A personality!
  • @Hippolyta.
as a bookseller of 7 years, I don't understand the rainbow hate 😭 as someone who remembers books solely by how they look (I often forget authors names and organizing alphabetical by title seems diabolical to me for some reason). I have a separate shelf for my series and favourites so all of my random standalones are by colour and IT'S CUTE OKAY! IT BRINGS ME JOY!
  • @PokhrajRoy.
Ok but I don’t think we’ve moved on from you arranging your books like it’s an indie bookstore/café. That was so cool ❤
  • @jil8091
And then there is me: arranging my books by the time I've finished reading them. Like a personal timeline.
  • @balatoo
Unhinged, but I sometimes sort my books by original publishing year, it is strangely satisfying to see all your books in a historical context, and I always get surprised which books were published around the same time
  • i organize my bookshelf based on how well i think the characters in one book would have vibed with the characters in the book next to it
  • @cam-es5xy
the "this are my red books versus my unread books" was top tier thank you
  • @cazymiss7
the genre organization will always be the most satisfying and sustainable for me, bc you can within it you can organize it alphabetically or by color. It just always bring satisfaction and little joy to my heart

Procrastinating organising my living space, by watching Jack organise his.
  • @_sykick
At this point Jack just treats his shelves like a giant toy 😂
  • As someone from a non English-speaking country, having a translated category/genre is still one of my biggest culture shocks. If I wanted to do anything like that I would probably have to do a national category or something 😅
  • @kennbeans
watching jack organize books is my therapy
  • @LoraK31
Pro-tip for shelf organizing: Something I started doing was saving a shelf for all my unreads (I call it my shame shelf lol). Having them all in one place really encourages you to pick up a book you already own instead of buying new ones

Organization is so personal. I (trigger warning) am a rainbow shelf person. I remember my books best by what the covers look like. When in rainbow order, I can find the books I am looking for way more quickly. I do keep my series on a separate shelf so they don’t get broken up but I also don’t own many series. 🌈 I’ve tried other methods, but I always go back to rainbow. I also find that similar books are in similar colors anyways. My thrillers are mostly all balck/grey. Mental health tend to be green/blue. My non-fiction are mostly tan/white.
  • @odd_carrot
I'm honestly a big fan of rainbow bookshelves BUT not if you organise your whole home library like this (I mean you do you but I wouldn't personally LMAO). However, if you have like a small shelf over your desk/bed or somewhere else where it stands out, I think it looks amazing when it's filled up by books sorted by color. You can keep your favorite stand-alones there & don't have to worry about splitting up series, while keeping some of your books looking very aesthetically pleasing
  • @qs2668
how about a 🌈 not from top to bottom but from left to right. you'd start by putting an equal number of red books on each shelf and then distribute the next colour and so on. that way you could also do transitions, like putting turquoise or teal in between green and blue
  • @kalpic11
I love rainbow shelves. Bonkers that so many hate them and that you “didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would.” Like it’s gorgeous. Not practical, but stunning.
  • @abbyc4457
can we take a second to appreciate jack's quick witted one liners? and yellow I am doing well :)
