The rebellion of teaching people things for free is the greatest, most heroic, mostly godly and noble thing you could possibly do. We have deprived ourselves of knowledge so much today in favor of profit and it is heartbreaking, disheartening, and infuriating. Thank you for this gift.
  • -Literally 10 second intro, and right into the topic. -12 principles explained in less than half an hour. -Consised, yet still detailed. Really well explained. -Very clear visuals that help emphasize the points and doesn't overstay it's use. This is not only a great video to learn animation principles, but also a great overall presentation. So much that you can learn from this video, it's fantastic! Love it!

This video is worth $857.68 for a short course in some universities from where i live which is Philippines and i get to watch it for free on this channel.

This was one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. Kudos.

I've wasted over $50k going to college just to learn these things over the span of months while Alan does it in a single video. Alan isn't managing a class ofc, but still...this video is superior. It covers all 12 principles of animation AND has extra stuff which really helps and already makes it less intimidating, and it's in video form and I can replay it all I want. It's been almost a decade, but damn did the spark come back. Thank you so much for these videos, Alan!!

I'm surprised at how actually detailed this tutorial is. I'm not even kidding when I say that I've NEVER seen a tutorial this detailed and explained so simply. Even a beginner would understand this. Love the examples too! They make it so much easier to understand. Most tutorials leave me confused, but this made everything clear to me.

My grandpa was a animator for disney for 48 years ( hand drew them) and he said it was super time consuming to do all the principles but it helps build tje character
  • For some reason, this video feels like a safe corner on YouTube. I’m not even an animator but I find watching this comforting and enjoyable

I'm an aspiring animator working on my most beloved project entitled 'Mrs. Devious'. Although it's humor is meant to be thought provoking and mature, I also want for there to also be moments of physical comedy. For this, it is imperative that I learn these principles. Watching this video intimidated me, seeing as how many aspects go into animation, but it also gave me a new perspective that I'd not seen taking animation classes in school. Thanks so much for making this! It truly helps!

He could’ve made a movie. Instead, he helped us learn how to make a movie. This dude is a genius.
  • I feel like I would watch any educational video on YouTube instead of going to school, mostly bc I actually learn something useful, but also there’s so much passion and entertaining content here that helps with demonstration bc this guy is a talented animator so he’s not just pretending to know this stuff

I'm not even remotely associated with the industry, but I still watched it through and through.. Makes one appreciate the work that goes into making animations and illustrations. There's is Whole lot of physics, mathematics and psychology involved. Wow
  • @Star-Mania
The ammount of EFFORT and dedication shown in this video is unreal! You did such a good job!
  • @Acorn905
I really love animating but i never went to a school for it or really sat down and learned how to do it. It was usually a watch and then do kind of situation but i'm really happy you made this video cus i know if i want to be a good or professional animator i gotta learn these things so thank you ^^
  • @hifumiVAL
I recommend taking a simple animation you've already done and applying every principle as you go, this will help understand the concept and memorize it better.
