Ferrite Beads can be magical in what they do at a ham radio station. One website that has lots of information and even tutorials is Palomar-Engineers.com. Not all ferrite beads are the same quality or have the same effectiveness at a given frequency. When you buy ferrite beads buy only from a reputable dealer with a known history of selling to amateur radio operators; like Palomar-Engineers.com.

Great to see you back. Hope things are going well with the move. You inspired me to take my ham licence and next week will sit my UK foundation test, hope to get the Intermediate in August and Full licence next year. Thanks for introducing me to a new hobby and maybe we'll chew the fat one day on the air.

I ended up purchasing the IC-7300 kit from Palomar and it has cut my RF interference down by 90%!
  • I’ve bought from Palomar. Their stuff WORKS!!! works very well. Common Mode Choke on my vertical, one at the antenna one behind the radio. Noise floor on 20m to nothing.

I literally just talked to owner on the phone before finding this video. I ordered a wifi kit, Icom 7300 kit, and Ameritron AL-80b kit. I also ordered extra snap-ons, cores, and odds and ends. I told the owner about some of the issues I was having in the shack and house and he took the time to guide me through his website to ensure I got everything I needed. Customer service was first-class and that goes a long way with me.

Hi Jim, Very informative video. The Palomar website has much info on RFI choking. In the RF amp and HF Transceivers RFI kits they have selected the correct mix for each application. First time looking over the info they offer. Thanks for pointing out their website. 73 WB3BJU
