Some video games ask you to do ridiculously challenging, frustrating, or tedious tasks for completion's sake. Here are the most demanding in-game quests we've hated.

Falcon getting progressively more and more frustrated describing the queen of cards quest is hilarious lol

Getting invincibility in Goldeneye was one of my proudest gaming achievements. I actually figured out years later WHY it took me so long- because the N64 analogue stick would wear down pretty easily, so when I was pressing it fully 'up' would only make me go like, 80% speed compared to a completely new controller. (I probably should have noticed this earlier, but I was just a kid.) Many GE speedrunners use different controller configurations to avoid using one to run at all.
  • Also though, doing the ambulance missions in GTA was really difficult… You basically needed to do it really early in the game because otherwise you had all kinds of rival gangs that would attack you on-sight and destroy the ambulance…

I still have PTSD from trying to dodge 250 consecutive lightning strikes on the Thunder Plains in FFX. There's a slight flash to warn you right before a strike, but there are also a lot of false flashes in the background, and you must precisely time the press of the dodge button. Yet it had to be done so my little brother could get Onion Knight for Lulu, who is generally worthless anyway. You can beat almost everything with Rikku alone.

I remember being 14 and literally being so stressed out because I wasnt great at saving my game, but I was stuck in blackreach trying to do the quest for like 3 days trying to find my way out/everytime I found the exit I realized I needed more nirnroot so I hated life. Key is to not be impatient and expect the damn things to not spawn, so when they do its fulfilling lmao

Jumping rope 1000 time with vivi - final fantasy ix dodging 200 lighting in thunder plains - final fantasy x Those two side quests still gives me nightmares
  • I remember trying to do that Unity mission solo. I had to make a planned route that would be the fastest and easiest to grab every flag. Still took me too many tries to keep track off but I eventually got it

Some honorable mentions: - Breaking Titanfall 2 record in the beginning of the game; - GTA vice city toy helicopter mission; - Driver 1 tutorial; - getting a girlfriend
  • When I got notified of this video I immediately thought of the riddler challenges

Final Fantasy IX has 3 candidates for this depending on how you quibble over definition of side quests. 1. Excalibur II - The not hinted at full game absurd time limit quest. 2. Card Game Max Rank 3. Nero Brothers Quest (mostly for how long it was entirely unknown). Also, cool that you mentioned Braid - but that deserved to be on the list for sure.

Getting all the korok seeds in BOTW really tested my completeness for a game

I did the Queen of Cards quest as a kid. Even with a strategy guide it was a massive pain in the ass and I must have reloaded saves hundreds of times throughout.
  • Honorable Mention: Dodging lightning strikes in Final Fantasy X. Think that's when I hated myself the most after failing over and over.

Glad you included that assault course from Unity. A lot of the free running sequences in the series can be annoying, but at least there is usually some logic to the route and your destination. That course just seems completely random though with no flow to it what so ever. Never got close to beating the time.

5:49 A very good observation. Helped me further relax and enjoy my games, instead of sweating about doing everything perfect and then feeling like I worked for 5 hours. I really am not the hero of the beach.
