For anyone new to this scanner. Be very patient and willing to take on a learning curve. You will get there. Using zip code and GPS is just fine for traveling to unknown spots, but you'll eventually want to better organize into favorites ( known as banks on most other older scanners). If you want to turn favorites on and off quickly you'll need to program quick keys. Initially doing all this is a bit confusing, but it will all make sense. There's no virtual scanners to load up when traveling to different areas...you still have to use your computer to load what is known as a profile. IMHO it gets pretty bloated when using the sentinel software if you plan on programming and organizing for many different destinations. Using just gps or zip code does load you up with whatever you want, but it's huge and disorganized. For all the scanner anal retentive, be forewarned.

Can you please create a tutorial on how to search explore DMR frequencies. Would love to see something for us rookies on how to see what is out there. I made a recent purchase a couple of days ago from your website and want to have a bit of knowledge in that category when it shows up :)

Just received this sds100 today off of Amazon. It works great right out of the box. My HP-2 was on and scanning while I was setting up the sds, then left ‘em both on. I found an interesting call so locked onto it and followed what happened to the kid who’s raft was capsized in a lake. Meanwhile the HP-2 just kept scanning for new calls. I immediately had an epiphany as soon as another call happened on the HP-2. With two similar scanners on at the same time I can now follow one call to completion without missing the other stuff going on out there. Having two scanners is a must. It just took me 45 years to figure that out.

Good video. It’s a lot easier using the software. 👍.

I had the clasp on the battery compartment break, I have fixed it using three cable ties, two wrapped around the radio and the third on the back pulling the other two together to stop them sliding off

Hello....can this scanner be powered just with an AC adapter, instead of having a battery installed? Would it be simply plugged into the USB port? I like the ability to be mobile with this, but when it's just sitting on my desk, I might as well just plug it in and not mess with the battery when I don't need it. Thank you!

Do I NEED the external GPS unit in order to end able the “locate me” on the unit? Or does the antenna allow this operation. I will be driving cross country and would like it to change locations as I drive. Thanks.
  • So this can pick up the digital or analog like state troopers use?
  • @walterlopez1924
hello, excellent video... one question... I live in Argentina and I can't enter my postal code... the question is... can it automatically scan everything that is in the air... do I need to enter my postal code?
  • @regularuser
The battery is smaller than what I anticipated, how long does it last from a full charge?
  • @deenunya7735
Is there a better Portable Ant other than a home base, or is that one decent
  • @MrHueJazz1
Can this be used to listen to Amtrak while taking a train trip? Would I have to have Amtrak frequencies programmed on this scanner, or would it just be able to pic them up on the fly?
  • I have a question can I use this scanner without using the zip code because I am planning to use it in Central America justo to scan different frecuencies thanks
  • @1Brianjohnson.
shouldnt you squeeze the batter and battery cover against the scanner then clip the latch ? That way you arent putting all that pressure on that latch
