How to prepare a screen for screen printing using photo emulsion and diazo sensitizer included in both Jacquard Products' Professional Screen Printing Kits. From mixing and applying the light sensitive emulsion through burning an image and rinsing the screen, all aspects of preparing a screen are covered. In a second video we will demonstrate screen printing.

We recommend mixing up the entire bottle of emulsion. Once mixed, you should store it in a cool, dark place. If you store the emulsion in the refrigerator, it will stay good for several months at least. The hotter it gets (and if it is exposed to too much light), the faster it will expire.... I hope this helps!

Thank you very much! For several months or at least 30 days is a great expiration time frame! I hope to keep uploading great video tutorials. Cheers.

Good question! Just stir well and you're good to go. The act of laying it on the screen will bring the temperature up. Hope this helps!

Beautiful video! Tomorrow will be my first time. Thank you!

has anyone used this to expose halftone images if so what mesh count and how long did you expose it for?

    Whoever this host/narrator is...well done! :)

Our Jacquard Screen Inks can be heat set or you can add a fixer to the ink before printing.

The sensitized emulsion is good in the bottle for at least a month. Keep it refrigerated or in a cool, dark place, and it can last much longer than that.

@niiaryeequaye We're glad you enjoyed the video and are happy to answer your question. It really does only take about 10 – 30 seconds in the sunlight. The variation in time takes into account time of day, time of year, clarity of the sky, etc. We'd love to see what you print! Feel free to share on our Facebook page as well. We hope to be posting many more videos here soon!

great job it is a learning curve you have to do it a few times to get it right i use a bright work light 12 inches away five minutes to expose but it takes practice i like your method thanks
  • @jacquardproducts
About an hour, depending on conditions. Use a fan or blow dryer to speed things along.
  • @cmkettin
After the emulsion and sensitizer are mixed up (and left to mix for one hour) how long is the jar good for? I have three different designs I want to do and only one screen. Do I have days to work with this or only hours?
  • @TheDilligan
can you reccomend any techniques cause most of what i'm finding are techniques that take days and ones that are just tough to do at home.. Cyanotypes seemed quite quick to me
  • @tristanbryan5412
can anybody tell me how long does it take to dry the screen with the photo emulsion on it?.
  • Excellent job . I like how you do it . I dont know about the tape .
