For a cop to plea out on 15 years, the evidence against them must be spectacular.

As a 51-year resident of Memphis, we were thrilled when the Feds got involved with this. Until then, we were expecting the usual injustice from our justice system - the proverbial slap on the wrist. But a badge is no exemption from the law... or, at least, it shouldn't be. We do have a lot of good officers in Memphis. As a downtown resident, I meet many of them. We need more like that lot... and none like the other.

I used to follow a cannabis activist in Memphis. He was subjected to some pretty shady tactics and when he tried to show how messed up the system was there, he passed away in custody. Maybe he got too close. RIP Thorne Peters Glad there's real time coming for these bad cops.

Has anyone seen changes on an organizational level to make sure atrocities like this never happen? Or are we going to pretend putting cops in jail is some sort of solution?

Settlements should be paid out of police pension funds. Watch extra-legal killings immediately cease.

I'd say 15 for a deal isn't good enough. They tortured him. Hey held him up, one officer on each arm, third officer picking up his uncocious head to hit him again. They beat him after he was dead. For walking.

Federal time is at least 80% served. Personally, I f÷El that those that hold a public trust NEED to be held to a higher standard.
