Do Ghosts Exist? Who or what are ghosts? Does the Church believe in them? If so, what are we required to do about them? Why would they appear to us? Hear Fr. Chris Alar answer these questions and give some good examples of Catholic "ghost stories" on this episode of Explaining the Faith.

  • This was a fascinating talk father! Thank you. When my papa died I was 9 years old. I was overcome with grief. I cried myself to sleep every night for a year. One night in my sleep I went out to the street in downtown Portland. The sky opened up & my papa came down from the clouds in a royal rosarian suit doing an Irish jig. He told me not to touch him. He sat down next to me & we spoke for a long time. He reassured me that my gramma wasn't gonna die soon... that she live to be very old... that id be old when she died. (I was 50) he told me many things then he said he had to go & I could touch him now. I jumped in his lap & he held me in his arms. I could feel him like he was real. I started laughing ... out loud ... I woke up & I was actually laughing happily... totally healed inside. I never cried for my papa again. I believe God allowed my papa to come see me to heal me cuz i wasn't OK. It was wonderful.
  • Thank you Father. I saw my husband about a month after he died. I came in the door with groceries in my arms and he was sitting in his usual chair. He looked at me but didn’t speak. I dropped the grocery bag on the floor. I was filled with awe. I said nothing . I noticed that he had colors of the same old shirt he used to wear. He then just sort of floated out the glass sliding door. My daughter asked a priest about it and he said that he was looking for prayers and it wasn’t unusual. After hearing that I thought I had received a great grace from God.
  • What I love most about Father Chris is that he doesn't just tell you something is wrong then quote scripture to back it up. He goes into detail to explain "why" it's wrong. This was extremely educational & greatly appreciated.
  • Father Chris is my favourite priest. I love his channel. I love the Catholic Church. My heart RUNS to the Church when the doors are open. These Catholic channels , especially this one, and Catholic radio is my sanctuary when not in Church. God bless fr. Chris.

This talk was amazing ❤️ I wish I would have heard it sooner. It was my sensitivity to spirit since the age of 11, that made me feel I wouldn’t be excepted by the Catholic Church, that something was wrong with me and drove me towards new age practice. Not something I asked for, just apart of who I am. I thought I would be an outcast and just wanted to have control over what I was experiencing, and all I found outside the church, was more fear and manipulation. Now I know the truth. Now I know that the greatest weapon I have against evil spirits IS my catholic faith!! Thank you father yet again ❤️
  • My son came to me 3 months after he died and said "I am happy Mom and so excited." His body was completely restored and he was smiling so big.

I had a poltergeist in my room when I was a teenager. It levitated my bed off the ground and crushed me. I couldn't cry out for help. But suddenly I thought of Jesus and was able to get his name out. As soon as I called out the name Jesus, the bed dropped to the floor and I never had any more issues again.

My parents, both deceased, were married at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in South Phila. Please pray for them, St. Nicholas, and Father Alar. Thank you!

Fr. Chris, I see this written over and over in the comments...about how your talks are really making a difference. You are teaching truth of the Church in a real kitchen table way...for a lack of better words. You are connecting with all of us as everyday people...not as if we are scholars, or theologians. On behalf of all that are watching you, week after week, we thank you, we love you, you have been a gift to all of us, and to the Church! You are making Jesus very proud! May God bless you! ❤

I think animals have the ability to appear after their passing to say goodbye or too comfort their families. My cats Chico and Andy prayed everyday with me throughout their whole lives. After their passing after evening prayers and turning in for bed I was awakened by the feeling of them jumping up onto my bed and curling up by my feet...it was very comforting. After a few nights it stopped. I really felt they were saying goodbye.
  • As a recent convert, learning about being able to offer up the pain to souls in Purgatory has made sense and changed my attitude about suffering.

I'm not a Catholic but enjoy your sermons very much...even though I have been beat-up for it more than once by both Protestants and Catholics! So we both must be doing something right if people want to beat me up for spending time with you and God! Thank you Father... Amen!⚘

Poor souls.. I ask all babies in Gods presence, whose lives ended because of abortion, to pray for an end of this horrible practice. I also pray for all babies being aborted and their mothers.
