Hi i'm Joe, I have created this YouTube channel to show my progression from a skinny teenager who is sick of being skinny to hopefully in the future being more muscular and just better in general both physically and mentally.

Imagine being like 5’7 in the Netherlands. Absolutely brutal 💀

Heavily appreciate the fact that Joe dosnt make the video long for no reason. Meaning the whole video is entertaining

I'm a legit. 6-6 without shoes or straining. I was listed at 6-7 when I played college bball and I am in shoes. When I backpacked through the Netherlands, I still felt tall but not nearly as tall as I do in other countries. I saw kids that were probably 14-15 all around that were my height or taller. I met a family in Rotterdam, with two sons, that were so tall that I could barely believe my eyes. Normally, I don't go up to people and ask their heights but I had a huge buzz and I was super curious. The father was 6-11 and the mother was 6-7. Their 14 year old son was 6-8 and their 17 year old son was 6-10. The father said his father and brother are both over 7-0. I'm not used to being shorter than a 14 year old kid and his mother. 😂

Joe is actually 8'3, he just walks on his knees to make us feel better

As a 6'1 man from the Netherlands i always feel normal but if i travel to another country im always so much taller compared to everyone else.
  • I am about 5,9 (176 cm) and I have been to Amsterdam, Den Hague, and Haarlem. I felt so puny walking by these giants. Definitely genetics are a big role as you mentioned. Also, I consume lots of dairy (it's a staple in Bulgarian cuisine) and it has likely had zero impact on my growth.
  • The Netherlands is the first foreign country I’ve traveled to where they assumed I was from there. I’m a 5’11” woman who finally didn’t feel like a giant. It was great!

The reason we are tall here in the Netherlands is because we can stay above the water if the sea raises...

I'm 173cm (5'8'') and just moved to the Netherlands after a summer vacation in China, went from feeling taller to average to literally dwarf. I've never cared about my height but the sudden change is rather intimidating.

I talked to biologists about it and they said that it is a combination of mostly nutrition, vaccination (and other ways of preventing children from falling ill) and also the strict regime of sleeping. Dutch parents are taught that children should sleep enough and keep a strict regime. This gives the body to use the stored energy for growth of the body and brain. Tall men are regarded as more attractive in most Western cultures so this selection could have happened in all Western cultures. Considering the diet: the Maasai people in Africa are also extremely tall. The Maasai diet consists of raw meat, blood, raw milk, honey. So I think your conclusion that it is natural selection is not in accordance to what scientists say.
  • @Chyrosran22
I've done the exact opposite, I lived in the UK for 4 years, at 186/6'1 I was considered quite tall there, whereas in Utrecht (my home city, as it happens) I'm extremely average.
  • @Olivier.Luethy
I don't trust the nutrition aspect. As a kid, I drank a lot of milk, yet I'm only 1.80 meters tall. My brother, who barely drinks milk, is around 1.95 meters tall. So, I think genetics must play a role.
  • Grown up in Netherlands with Spanish-Italian parents, I've always felt small here with 5'11. Going out in different countries is a special experience for me, as I can finally see what happens on for example a stage.

I was working in Senegal west Africa earlier this year. Having traveled through the Netherlands for over 25 years and knowing how stunted I felt, I was blown away by the height of the locals in Senegal. On the work site there were 3 guys over 7 feet and most guys were over 6 foot 2. One day I walked into our mechanical workshop and 4 locals were in there and all well over 2 mtrs. Not only that these guys are buff as hell. No tubbies, everyone of them is built like Frank Bruno in his prime. Their diet consists of a lot of fish ? in my work boots the top of my head is 6 foot so it's easy to judge the real height of people around me.

I'm from the Netherlands. Cool to see you visited our country! :)

Hahaha I’m an Australian who moved to the Netherlands when I was 12. I’m 181cms, which is good for Australia. Going clubbing in Amsterdam is very very humbling for me 😅😅😅
  • @AdamGregory04
    2:23 196cm is actually 6’5” and a bit. 6’4” is 193cm. 205cm is actually 6’9”
  • @mat467
How is he 6’4 and noticeably shorter than people who are claiming to be 6’3 and 6’4 in the video?
