😀 About VideoShowMeHow
-----------------------------------------------
⏩ Where did this start?
I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)

⏩ What will you find here?
The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)

⏩ What's with the gloves?
Not after any YouTube fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing. Plus adds a little more personality I guess :)

New videos are being uploaded regularly so if there's something you'd like to see, have Questions and/or Comments drop me a line.

Cheers guys.

Adam

I just got this from the Play Store for free using my Play Pass subscription and I'm still not quite sure how to set it up... I will have to watch your video again and see if I can figure something out. Thanks for posting this! Cheers mate! Although my last name is Cornwall, im not from the UK or anywhere near there. Nice video there mate I used the car scanner app which was good with my Volvo V40 d2 and had the preloaded defaults. For the obdII reader I used a Vgate icar PRO BLE 4.0, which worked with car on an iPad. I was able to diagnose and fix a clogged EGR valve and test the operation after repair. Would like to see a video of the app, and full live parameters explained.
  • I use Torque Pro to monitor the DPF level in my Hilux, it’s one of the hundreds of sensors you can scan. I added a few custom PID codes to watch the auto converter and pan temps of the transmission.

Very helpful! I just got a quick question, i have the wiring connection using an Els27 instead of an Obd2 wireless, do u know how to connect it so the car scanner app can talk to the car mate?
  • @waydosful
Which EGR sensors are you using, can’t quite tell from the video.
  • @davekent4829
Good explanation, we got a reader, but no instructions with it, 👍
  • @andrewford80
Good timing. I've been using car scanner pro as I find it picks up more sensors than torque. However, when it's running, android auto grinds to a halt on my phone/head unit. At least it seems to be related. I think I've just reached the limit of the handset as it does get pretty hot. Might need to use a separate handset for each task. FLM

Nice video question will this rest my tire pressure light 2021 Volkswagen Jetta I have an aftermarket radio I used to be able to rest it trough that I also took it in to the dealership they couldn’t scan it either they said only trough the factory stereo?
  • @xcaptainb2614
Hi mate from what I understand only the android head units can use the app directly from the source. The Kenwood's have a screen mirroring function which would work I'm sure the alpines would as well which could be an option? Also i did see somewhere someone putting a PID code for trans temp with the torque pro not sure if it is possible or not?
  • Great vid as always, does the phone still work in conjunction with this feature, cheers Craig

Very insightful video! We have a DMAX as well and were about to tow a big boat interstate. We want to be able to check the ATF Temp by ourselves, we have the torque app pro at the moment but we got no luck with knowing the right codes to add a PIDS for the ATF temp. In car scanner pro, will you be able to read the transmission temp right away or is it same with the torque app that you need to input some codes to add the ATF temp? I hope you'll notice this comment thank you
  • @mika1084
Great instructional video, I am struggling to get transmission temp on any App I try. I think your video may hold the key. Please tell me (TCM)ATF TEMPERATURE, is that available on the standard App of Car Scanner or did you upgrade to a Pro level. Cheers Mike
