Granada in southern Spain is a popular tourist destination in Andalusia. Granada features impressive medieval architecture from Moorish occupation. The Alhambra is one of the main sights there while the old town has many churches and monasteries from later periods.

On this walk we start near the Alhambra, walk down to the city center, head up in the San Pedro area with the Albacin. The Albaicin is the Moorish area of the city and the oldest part of Granada. There we head up again to the "Mirador San Nicolás" - a viewpoint with excellent views of the Alhambra.

Granada is a fascinating alagam of Ancient and Modern - architecturally speaking. Interestingly...It is the confluence of distinctly different cultures - Islamic/Judaic/Christian that create this palimpsest . In Granada - it somehow seems relatively Homogeneous, where as in Istanbul...where I am currently - The prevailing Muslim culture here has stripped almost every layer of the previous Ottoman, and Byzantine cultures away, and replaced it with eyesores!...Utilitarian Grey Cement boxes to house the 18 Million Souls that Overcrown this once Majestic Metropolis! I hope to leave here before the next Covid Tsunami prevents non-essential Travel...so I can come to this most Gorgeous of Iberian Cities!

No entiendo como la capital de Andalucia es Sevilla y no Granada.... I don´t know the reason by that city not get be the capital of Andalucia.
