Mojave EXB Hobbywing system and Spectrum system comparison

Published 2022-05-28
Check out my comparison between the Hobbywing and Spectrum system running the Mojave EXB. I think that I would still choose the Hobbywing system due to more torque.

That 1650kv is a beast, more explosive for sure!!! Convinced me what motor combo to use. Love that Hobbywing!

Even with 16t pinion my 1650 was running over 150°f (in grass). My 2050kv spektrum motor stays around 130° with the same 16t. Both motors have good quality/properly fitted heat sinks with a high speed fan (1650 actually had 2 fans). I've replaced the bearings and everything I think the 1650 is just a bit too heavy for this chassis.
  • Just get a Mojave! I agree. I have the 1650 hobbystar and max5 in mine. I run 6s because I also run backflip lp's. On stock tires I run 8s. No matter what I always have a blast with the Mojave.

They both look great ! Even thought the spektrum is faster, does it generate more heat when running like that on the 20t pinion ? A side question for you , I can't find in your videos where you say it , but what servos are you running in your Xmaxxs ? Thanks !!

Nice wide open area for unleashing the Mojave... No ? Mojave is my choice.. I have bought 2 RTR and 2 roller..the roller I equipped with spectrum esc and motor , the esc caught fire today in the first 5minutes of driving it..I'm a little shocked and sad.. started on esc side next to drive shaft..idk what caused it..burned my truck body and the 2 guys.. I couldn't save them..love your videos though.. my other roller has the 8s 1250.. should be illegal.. to fast .
  • I’ve broken a ton of drive line components since the max 6 1650 install , in my mind it’s not worth it .

You should gear up the max 6 combo. The kv is much lower than the spectrum motor and a 3 tooth difference won't be enough. You could go to 25/26t. Nice video!
