What Frequencies Are Best To Stay Private But Not Get Into Trouble With The FCC?

Published 2024-06-06
In this video I answer an email question from my new best friend regarding what frequency he should use to transmit on with his Baofeng UV-5R that will not get him into trouble with the FCC or attract any attention - So i explain the different frequency ranges and frequency-bands that most hand-held radios like the Baofeng UV-5R radio can transmit on which are ham, GMRS, LMR/Business frequencies, and MURS. I also mention CB radio and its importance.

The communications ACT of 1934 governs commercial use of radio. 47 U.S.C. 153(39) defines "Person" as an individual, partnership, association, joint-stock company, trust, or corporation, which are legal entities. Are you a legal entity? Title 47, Chapter 1, Sub chapter D "Amateur Radio Service" is governed by 47 U.S.C 151-155, 301-609 unless otherwise noted. They leave out the definition of person on the amateur radio licensing documents because they are duping the stupid and ignorant American public. Unless you are a legal entity as defined by 47 U.S.C. 153(39), then you don't need a "license" to exercise your right to use the radio spectrum for non-commercial and non-harmful use.

I like how his "friend" went from Thomas to Tony back to Thomas then Timothy and Troy then Todd and Troy again 😂
  • @JamesSchenck
Rather than saying "irregardless", you might consider saying "irregardlessly". It is useful because it annoys those who say you should say "regardless" by another whole level. I like annoying people, and I appreciate your efforts.

A GMRS radio with a 5 element yagi antenna, on low power, is directional enough to null out 70% of anyone listening near by.

I did the MARS mod to my ham radios, makes life much easier.

Thank you for not making a video on any new radios!! I’m up to 36 handheld, 5 mobile, and 1 base radio setups. Im shocked I’m not single yet. Honestly tho, Randy is the entire reason I’m into GMRS. I use GMRS waaaaay more than ham.
  • @SeanFlaherty
So now you’re meeting strange men over email too.
  • GMRS users can walk/ Run around the block (without their 80 yo Mom's permission) Sad HAM's cant't leave their shack without their EZ Scooter.

Man… you’re awesome! Thanks for making HAM / radio in general more accessible to everyone! We bought a bunch of Boateng UV-5R and registered a frequency for our events with our local radio authorities. Lots of love from Germany!
