Man, let me tell you about this new dollar store building that's causing me all sorts of headaches with my dumpster business.

It's been a real pain in the you-know-what. The construction they're doing is causing so much confusion, and it's messing with my utilities and property. Good thing the subcontractor understands the local area and understands my building isn't the one set for demolition!

Not only that, the project lead made a ridiculous offer to buy my property as well. "I know you're young, but this is a great offer for this area" - That's where they lost me.

My building wasn't for sale though, so it wasn't the end of the world. Because improving my dumpster and junk removal business was my priority. But ever since turning away the offer, there has been nothing but inconsiderate issues.

I've been spending so much time and effort trying to straighten things out as they pop up. It feels like I'm constantly putting out fires that i didn't start. But you know what? It is what is. We figure it out, and keep pushing forward!

  • Two things, you need to get to whoever is actually in charge of the entire project (Not just a foreman or superintendent) and tell them you’ve had enough and it has cost you more than enough time (and money) and from that point forward, continued issues will result in legal action being sought by you. Courts and juries much prefer little guys over large corporations when they’re doing improper things. Secondly, if you don’t have cameras up covering your entire property, get them up ASAP. Make especially sure it gets done before the store opens because you are going to have a lot more eyes on your property. But if cameras were up to document the things that have taken place, it would be a slam dunk in court.

Got to agree with the other posters, the contractor should be charged. Maybe cut them a deal to get the mileage, but disposal, repair, repaint and your time seem to be adding up!

That construction is always a nightmare. A friend had his home damaged when they demolished the gas station next door to build a bank. They crushed the sewer line and damaged the electrical feed. The sewer backed up a few days later but the electrical problems started a year later. half the 240V failed due to a damaged cable, and it took weeks to convince FPL it was their problem. The bank they built there eventually closed and is for sale now.

We had to do a VERY Long over due yard clean up where I work. "Oil Field Manufacturing and RnD business. Metal scrap/recycling company supplied us 20 yard "Steel Only" bins. Everything to do with the oilfield is stupid heavy. I tried telling the guys to go easy on the bins, don't make them too heavy. First truck blew the cap off his hydraulic tank 30 feet in the air lifting the first bin. Not sure what happened there. Second truck really struggle to lift second bin. Don't know the weight of the first bin, but I later heard, their general manager called very pissed off and said second bin was 7 tons over Legal maximum allowable weight. Driver was fired and any possible damage to truck they would bill us. The guys only filled the bins half way after that.
  • I used to install lifts, without removing the lift or pumping the tank out, the easy way is just put a bucket under the exhaust and lower the lift. get some kitty litter and spread it around just in case or at least have it ready. also empty the water from your compressor as it introduces water into the lift raising the level.

Need to flush that entire hydraulic system for the post lift. Water displaced the oil and you’re going to end up with that rusting and getting stuck internally.

You’re a beast dude! Keep hustling. This world need more people like you

I love watching your videos! I originally found you because I have two 10 yard dump trailers I rented out and I've been getting busy with them and was looking into what brand roll-off was the best. I really enjoy your content and I would love to see you post videos of just a normal day recording some pick ups and record them being dumped. I know you have to make them interesting to make people watch though lol

drain all the oil and refill it..... you got water, also check all the lines. you may have a line blocked to overflow tank.
  • @rustrtal
I'm guessing your water was turned on because the demo contractor needed water for the demo process and they turned on the wrong service (or it's the same service for both buildings)
  • @ciginia99
at least you werent on vacation for a week and came back to your building gone

Docket is the bomb! we have been using them for over a year! my customers love getting the notification when the driver is on his way! easy clock in/out feature, and i love being able to set the route for the driver to follow with the app on his phone.
  • quickly install DOUBLE LOCKS, rooftop surveillance cameras everywhere. all the state, county, city inspectors, contractors employees, subcontractors employees', DG employees, ALL delivery trucks, DG customers AND CONSTRUCTION SPECTATORS are going to terrorize your company. CONSIDER SEVERAL GUARD DOGS INDOORS AND A NIGHT WATCHMAN DURING CONSTRUCTSTION.
  • @James-kg1wf
Love the video. The algorithm sent me over and I agree don't let people use your age against you in business. Sadly this happens alot and I have had to deal with this as well which leads to some hard feellings at times. Thankfully I've only had to have a few of those times be a very short answer that the other side didn't like however I had to stand my ground at the time due to safety or at least staying in the black. Hopefully this dollar general gets better and you can focus on other things soon!
  • @aslife3813
I like this idea. Doesn’t require more than what I already have. Need a longer line to reach that far behind my cans
  • @tallstacker
you need a frame on the back of the dumpster to run the winch through a pully to lift up more then forward
  • @shadowdemon13
You need to bill them for everything they do. They'll walk all over you otherwise.
