A very underrated song, this song doesn't get enough airplay on classic rock stations

Summer of 1978. I was in the back seat of an Olds, it was 4:00 A.M. We were young and hanging out on Snake Island smoking a bit and watching the fog rising on top of the water and listening to this song. I miss those days so much. My youth haunts me.

this is by far the best song on the album, and the Spectres album is amazing
  • I want this played at the party following my funeral. It's one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded, imo.
  • This one ckokes me up a bit.....Buck's guitar work is very ghostly, very dark and deep. The lyrics are just as haunting. So underrated as a band and as individual musicians.
  • I've listened to this song for 30 plus years and I still get chills from it, especially the mid song and outro solo from Buck. Plus, the song as a whole is amazing, with excellent contributions from everyone. No other band does this for me as much as BOC.

The album this song is on, "Spectres," reminds me of 7th grade. I was home schooled for only that year, and I would get my work done early and jam to Spectres every single day. I later realised how obtuse rock critics can be when I read disapproving reviews of Spectres in various rock rags. Spectres is full of imagination, hooks, extremely tasteful arrangements, and fantastic songs from five--count them--five great writers (plus the co-writers like Sandy and Richard, etc.). Thanks BOC.

Also, the part where she says "If only you could of been there my dear, we could have shared this together" refers to her long life and how much she could have shown him had they met a long time ago. During the solo it's like she is showing him her past life. She is inviting him to share this with her and at the end he says "Yes I'm gonna go, cuz now I know". It's a vampire love song really and wonderfully done.
