Two years later I'm here as a first time player on souls games. Picked up Elden ring literally 4 days ago. I'm getting absolutelly shit on by every single enemy. And I can safely say this game is fucking amazing.

I couldn’t enjoy Elden Ring much when I bought it. I was just not good. I was bad at difficult action games. Recently, I picked up Cuphead which has a beautiful difficulty curve and finally realized why people love extremely challenging boss fights. The first time I defeated a Cuphead boss, the rush set in. It was a very different sense of progress. It was not a level up or ticking off an item in a list of quests. The progress was in my head. I had gotten better with my reflexes and control and the progress was saved in my head. I started a new game and my brain immediately knew how to react. It made me realize that you can progress through difficult challenges if you open your mind and embrace failures without giving up. This has now become an IRL philosophy for me. I thus picked up Elden Ring again. And now I can’t put it down.

When I first started Elden Ring, I hated it so much I beat the game for the first time just to spite it. ...7 NG+'s later, and over 280 hours later, I realize it's peak.

What I expected: "The input reading is bullshit" , "The late game is unbalanced" , "The boss design is inconsistent" What I got: "Why NPC fight back!?" , "Game ugly" , "This fromsoft game is too hard!!!"

Insane how this video led to: mums being called, outright abuse and careers being threatened/ended.

Considering it took me 8 months of quitting and retrying the first level of Demon's Souls before beating it and finally understanding how the game worked I am in the best position to say people give up too easily. 40 hours later I had the Platinum trophy.
