Alex from Jayco Canberra shows us how he would set up and pack down the 2024 Jayco Swan Outback camper van that is built for offroad camping and touring. The process in the video assumes that you have levelled the van, unhitched and put the stabiliser legs down. The setup is pretty quick once the van is off the car. Packing up is slightly longer, but still not very long at all. Most of the time in a pack up is cleaning and putting your belongings away. The pack up process in this video didn't include locking up the picnic table and closing external shower. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments.

Check out our full walk throug of this vamper van on our channel.

Don't forget to turn the internal lights off before winding it down.
  • Yeh I had one for a few trips to caravan parks - not terrible. Took it to the cape and sold it immediately upon return. Difficult to get in to the fridge mid trip for food if I had forgotten to put anything in the car fridge, utensils etc, front seal leaking and letting in dust and rain so had to duct tape it up every morning, fridge also being absolutely woeful on 12v which was a wiring issue from new. And as mentioned by @jeep2701 the bag awning adds so much time and aggravation. Also great to set up or pack down in the rain as your pushing the wet canvas on to and over the bed ends... which leaks through so you end up with a wet bed. If I were to do it again I'd have just bought the full size bunk van straight up, or if funds dont allow get a second hand hard floor camper and put the kids in swags under a gazebo or awning. If you just want to stick to Big4s then maybe not so bad.

It’s the awning that drove me insane when I had one

Give it six months and it will take longer, it’s not a criticism just real life reality……….we had one did 5 trips and went to Jayco pop top van before moving onto full size semi off road van. They are definitely for the younger brigade and this who want more Offroad access.

So cumbersome especially in the rain. And no warranty on unsealed roads. Only on bitumen. That’s a big miss for me.
