For those who kept saying “LEGO Movie wasn’t nominated because there was live action segments.” just remember Happy Feet won.

I love seeing animated characters make cameos at the oscars, too bad they don't do it anymore
  • I love how McQueen comforted Mater when he is sad that they didn’t win.

Happy Feet is the only animated film from Warner Bros. to win an oscar.

George Miller is a legend in my opinion. He created the Mad Max franchise, and after winning an Oscar for a cgi family film, came back to make one of the greatest action films of all time, Mad Max Fury Road. This guy deserves all the credit in the world.

Neat, the same director for other such family friendly films such as Happy Feet 2, Babe, and Mad Max: Fury Road!

I remember this telecast because Scorsese won Best Director, but only now am I realizing the significance of George Miller winning this Oscar, even if it was for a different category. Two filmmaking legends winning two Oscars on the same night!

This movie was actually motion captured which is not considered an animation category, but Pixar was so mad because of Cars’s loss, that in Ratatouille, in the end credits, there is a coupon saying 100% non-motion captured.

Sadly, this was the last time when animated characters were used on their seats.

Lightning McQueen: We didn't win.... Mater: Yeah... What a shame.... Lghtning McQueen: (smiles) But we didn't have too. We're nominees. That's what matters. Mater: (smiles) Just like in the race, buddy.
  • I liked Cars, Happy Feet and Monster House equally overall. I actually didn't see Happy Feet until after the Oscars. Well deserved win and Happy 10th anniversary. RIP to Robin Williams and Prince

Is no one gonna talk about how good George miller's speech was?

Happy Feet has great directing. George Miller became the first Australian to win and be nominated for Best Animated Feature.
  • Fun Fact: Lassater had planned to throw confetti everywhere when Cars won best animated picture. (This was 2006, Pixar could do no wrong.)

In my opinion, Cars is the best animated film of 2006. It will always have an Oscar Award in my heart.

There are 6 animated characters that appeared in the audiences: 1. Lighting McQueen (Cars) 2. Tow Mater (Cars) 3. Mumble (Happy Feet) 4. D.J. Walters (Monster House) 5. Jenny Bennett (Monster House) 6. & Charles "Chowder" (Monster House). It's nice to see some animated characters in the Academy Awards.
  • Visually dazzling, with a thoughtful storyline and catchy musical numbers, Happy Feet marks a successful animated debut from the makers of Babe.
