The Olympics, FIFA, and why we love sports: Crash Course Games #17

Today, John Green is going to be your substitute teacher as we dive into the world of sports! Now “sports” is a pretty broad genre of game, we probably couldn’t even cover them in an entire series, but today we’re going to do our best to look at the origins of sports as they trace their histories back the Olympics (and even a little earlier), and look at how the rise of national pride and gaming communities has led us to the cultural behemoth of the FIFA World Cup. It’s a lot to cover, but we’re do our best to answer the big question for you non-sports-loving-gamers out there along the way: why do we love sports anyway?

OMG! It is so much fun to watch John Green explain aspects of society, like he did and used to on CC literature and American/World History! I would be thrilled if we see more of that kinda stuff :)

I actually met Andre during Comic-Con. He's very sweet in person, and I was surprised by how tall he is.
  • This was a nice change in pace for this series. I love John and I certainly love me some Vidya Gaems!

Since John plays so many Soccer video games, he was probably the better pick anyways.

JOHN! So glad to see you doing this video. Your Crash Course: History videos are my favorites of all the Crash Course content.

I've never liked football but I still enjoy watching it with close friends from time to time. It's fun to get passionate about something together even if you don't really care who wins or loses. You feel a special connection with your friend
