I think one of the most disgusting messages was the fact they tried to portray Onestar killing Darktail as a noble sacrifice like Bristlefrost killing Ashfur. The set up, the writing, the Onestar thinking of all his family and feeling happiness and warmth as he died- THEY BLATANTLY RIPPED OFF THEIR OWN ENDING. However the two situations aren’t even comparable. While Onestar hid and cowered his entire life in fear of Darktail and the consequences of his actions, Bristlefrost realized her mistakes and worked tirelessly to repair them immediately. When she saw her friend was in danger, she didn’t have a second thought before running in to save him without a single concern for herself. Onestar would rather save his own pelt then even attempt to help anyone. Bristlefrost drowning Ashfur was truly the ultimate sacrafice of love and compassion pushed on a cat far too young, then given a permadeath. Onestar drowning Darktail was just him barely managing to finally atone for his sins and make his pathetic life worth something. I can genuinely say this was the worst Warriors book since SH, but this was one of the more egregiously tilting things.
  • Onestar: gets accepted into StarClan because he worked hard to redeemed himself Juniperclaw: >:0
  • @Pierr.e
Reading this book was rather painful. Onestar goes on and on about how much he’s suffering because of the decisions he has to make, but does literally nothing to improve anything. He’s the biggest hypocrite I’ve ever had the displeasure to read about.

the line about atonement is so hollow when you think about a cat like juniperclaw, who died in an incredibly similar way to onestar- drowning -to atone for what he did, and was denied a place in starclan, and then talked down to by onestar himself afterwards. juniperclaw's own father died because of onestar's negligence! yet juniperclaw gets sent to cat hell being told "you shouldn't have done it in the first place, it's no good being sorry" while onestar gets a free pass. starclan is utterly corrupt.
  • Wow, just wow utterly disgusting what warrior cat had just produced. I though with all the hate from the one chapter maybe they would think about re writing it maybe scrap the writing and post pone the arrival date. BUT NOOOO, they need new writers. I love warrior cats to be honest but there newer books are losing what I feel in love with in warrior cats, I think it time The Erin hunters hand over the warrior cats book to someone who can give it back the warrior spark. I just hope maybe they will take away the book and rewrite it if it possible, idk tho I’m just angry right now.

"He would've been evil anyway" Warrior cat favourite excuse to make up for bad behaviour "You sacrifice your life, that's honorable" Juniperclaw shifting in uncontrolable anger in a corner. At least HE truly meant good and realized what he was doing was wrong. This whole book feels like a retcon of the ACTUAL confession from Onestar. The one from AVOS.
  • "Because giving his life to kill Darktail was such brave atonement" Tell that to Juniperclaw..... twice.
  • 2:36 Bro the “seen her as a kit in the nursery” really weird me out like- Imagine hearing a grown man say “man I never thought when I first saw her as a baby that he would end up being my wife” 🤮
  • Tallstar: You died honorably saving your clan and have atoned Juniperclaw: Um hello?

What makes me baffled is that suddenly StarClan did a trial on Squirrelflight and Leafpool, but nothing like that was done for someone who did worse like Onestar. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Idk what’s worse, the possibility of the writers having a hatred for men characters or the objectification of female characters
  • @LilQuade
I feel like 99% of the main female characters' story arc is something to do with a relationship or kits. Almost every major female character I can think of had a relationship/kit problem. - Leopardstar had that whole thing with Frogleap and Mosspelt - We all know Squirrelflight's Ash/Bramble drama - Bluestar got rid of her kits to become deputy - Spottedleaf... yeah - Yellowfang had that fiasco with Raggedstar - Cinderpelt apparently had a crush on Firestar - Mapleshade was exiled because of her kits' father - Bristlefrost started out with a crush on Stemleaf then (sort of) got with Rootspring - Sunbeam was broken up with immediately and now it seems the writers are setting up a Sun X Night plot Like, we need more female characters who are strong and independent. I'm tired of the whole "She-cat having mate/kit issues" whole thing. I don't mind if they have a mate or kits, but don't make that like a major turning point in their plot. I also am sick of the stereotypical "Soft, kind, sweet, etc" she-cats. Like I want a tough she-cat. But after this book, I doubt we'll ever get a female character like that.
  • 5:40-6:17 so SquirrelFlight’s Secret gets out BrambleClaw flies off the handle breaks up with her immediately and doesn’t speak to her again and makes her anxious with how cold he is towards her Because deep down she desperately wants to make it up to him OneStar’s past relationship Get out no consequences star clan did not tell him to do this or keep it secret or have an affair with a kitty pet whitetail only goes I wish you had told me and there are no consequences other than him drowning himself…. I can’t tell if that’s sexist or just massive SquirrelFlight Bias sigh
  • @Eclipse210
Whitetail HAD a personality before this book. She was sharp, mature, authoritative, and blunt. This is shown when she and Crowfeather save Jaypaw when he falls in the lake and during the beaver quest I checked the wiki, turns out in Shattered Sky, she was completely outraged at Onestar and basically called him a disgrace to the Clans
  • @Kaytoun
I feel like they were trying to paint Onestar in this sympathetic light, trying to show that he really was a good guy who just made bad choices, but instead they showed him to be an even worse cat than we first thought. At this point there are very little redeemable qualities in Onestar. He should have gone to the Dark Forest, especially since there are cats there that were sent to the DF for waaaaaay less. He's selfish, cruel, and cowardly, and he nearly let the Clans be destroyed by the son he abandoned all because he refused to take responsibility for his actions until the very last second. He may have sacrificed himself at the end to stop Darktail, but that doesn't redeem him of all the other horrible things he's done up until that point. One good thing doesn't make up for a life time of bad behavior.
  • @mysryuza
Somehow the writers thought it was a good idea to mention the apprentice thing. No one would have complained if that was never pointed out nor made canon. This book made Onestar appear much more disturbing than he already was. No wonder it’s called “Onestar’s Confession” 💀

How does warrior cats continuously manage to pump out inherently abusive, toxic relationships and plot points? Like how have they NOT realized what they are doing wrong and tried t9 fix it. How have they NOT realized the amount of toxicity and hate that they promote. Squilf and Bramble’s relationship (tho debated) being relationship, literally how all of ThunderClan BASHED squilf (and we all know it’s cuz she was a she-cat), The way they claim Frecklewish deserved to be in the dark forest with little to no book evidence and the other, male, cats involved with WAY MORE POWER over the situation than Fredklewish get off scott free! AND NOW THIS! It’s genuinely revolting to see how much disgusting content is present in the undertones of these books, and yet NOTHING is done when the fandom points it out. KIDS are reading this stuff and thinking it’s okay, BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW ANY BETTER! Honestly. Extremely disappointed with the whole of the writing crew.
  • @DarkQuilava13
All of this makes me feel like Tallstar got hooked on catnip in his later years, and is on catnip constantly in starclan. 🤦‍♀️ His treatment of those two alone I dont think Tallstar would of stood for.
  • @VideoMatoran
I always hated OneStar for ditching Firestar as a friend and practically stirring xenophobia towards Thunderclan, affecting an already dysfunctional family (NightCloud and CrowFeather's) to the point they fanatically denied Crow had anything to do with his kits from LeafPool despite the obvious... But this book is a bit much to drive that point across. This book literally say that the Warrior cats society is corrupt, and you can be an abusive, manipulative sociopath, you can still be rewarded, while your victims are reduced to empty shells of their former selves, if they are even given any... Considering these two, which he called "Mates" were female... consider that, as far as I am aware, women write these books. Women wrote SpottedLeaf's Heart, women wrote every book with the new and abusive Bramblestar in it, and women wrote.. everything! This is concerning. What happens during the production of these books?
  • @Laurenyummy
This may be controversial, but we need more female cats like blue star. Before she went crazy, she had a deeper personality than just a soft girlfriend cat. She was mature, responsible, and had a deeper story. She wasn’t a side character, in my opinion.
  • I hate that Warrior Cats keeps pushing this "born evil" narrative in their special editions. It takes away all agency and responsibility. Hated reading Yellowfang's Secret for that reason, too, it makes Brokenstar a completely useless character to say "oh well he was an evil newborn baby :) no one couldve changed that :)) "
