For some reason cig wants to make the more exhilarating parts of star citizen arcade like, but the most tedious parts of SC realistic? And therefore more tedious? Why?
  • I think Ollie43 mentioned it, but the hangers should be barebones with set dressing. It shouldn't have all the crap on the floor with which we can't even interact. Some of it, like forklifts, may come into play, but right now, they're just blocking space.
  • Why can’t we have a: “SMALL APARTMENT INSIDE THE HANGARS” I’ve flow corporate for a while, it was not unusual for large hangars to have an upper corner floor with a small office/appartement
  • I said a year ago that their move to “physicalized everything” would present unforeseen fumbles and a myriad of bad decisions due to their obsession with “realism” - well, now we’re here. This is what happens. They’re going to bleed players because no one wants a realistic sim of managing garbage. People want to have fun in a game. They were already struggling with how long it took the average player to find fun after initial game launch, now it’s just going to be so much worse

These omega icons is what ultrawide monitors players have been seeing for a very very very long time.

I'm irritated by the time waste that is the ship elevator. it needs to move at twice the speed at least.

what worries me is that CIG does not know how we actually play their game. The first thing we do every patch is * run to the spaceport * take your biggest ship * put as much in it as possible * fly to a space station * set your spawn and call it home for the rest of the patch Most of us will probably decorate the hanger the first time. next reset 30% of the player base will do it again. the third reset 1% of the players will use it. the interface for personal stuff should have been something like the new loot screens. and I wonder if CIG will address this, or if they will give us the silent treatment like they did with the MM dumpster fire.
  • Honestly, I don't want a hab in a tower, I want a hab that I can have in my hangar. Let me pretend to be a Mandalorian who lives with his ship, dangit!

I wish i can log in exactly where i log out. regardless of a bed.

They probably used that drawer thing to split the DB table (just data and displayed as image/text) to a smaller bitesize table to load the 'physicalized' items cos the servers are run on hamsters. The current system probably loads everyone's full inventory items as 'physicalized', thus the server having a seizure every time 'I' is pressed (*ahem* like d4 *ahem*). Poor optimization of inventory and this being a duct tape 'fix' while being a horrendous experience for players. Also their UI lead guy previously shown in one of their videos is a UI coder (he was so proud of saying it) instead of being a proper UI/UX person who is more in tuned to making the UI more speedy and efficient. The new map is a good example with excessive element animations. They have shown to not understand that a UI and In Game Interaction assets should always be fast and efficient to REDUCE steps and SPEED UP any sort of action a player takes. CIG needs to REDUCE time spent instead of wasting time on un-skippable animations. A 3 sec action in game or in UI now becomes a 1min slog.

I do think they are trying to reduce calls to the inventory server.

Let me transfer from box to box without having to put something on the ground. How is this over 2 years late?
  • @kn9788
"It should be a MFD on our ship" -> the Comms MFD seems to have not too much use at the moment besides hangar doors - maybe get that thing to communicate stuff??
  • @violentmnky
It was so convenient to be able to pull up alongside a station and grab some stuff from local really quick (oops, forgot food or a multitool!) without having to dock and get out. One of the very few times I felt like this game respected my time. I just head cannon-ed it as the station being able to launch a box out for me 🙁

I think you actually have a great idea with the UI change and should post that on spectrum. Putting a paper doll in the inventory screen would be awesome so you can equip yourself or maybe even create load outs that could be saved, like a closet/wardrobe. I know they used to have suit lockers, this could be a step towards the next iteration of lockers.
  • I said this years ago, but spectrum shills told me it was too early to give feedback. All of these issues stem from CIG refusing to make a decent inventory system so they ended up having 3 separate broken UIs instead of a properly designed one to handle all the game's use cases holistically.

As a generally combat focussed player, I have 0 issue with there being a patch even a major patch even a whole version that has nothing to do with combat. IDK that anyones issue is just that "it's only about cargo". My issue is that they took something that was meh, but workable, and made it obnoxious. Gimme that cargo elevator for sure. Gimme that instanced hangar, love it. Gimme that ability to place things to decorate something that's mine. Sure that novelty will wear off quick, but hell, let's have it. My issue is Item Kiosks are dumb, because the concept that they replace the old inventory is a straight up lie. They don't replace jack. They sit in front of and limit what is essentially the exact same inventory system, and make new obstacles and new tedium that serve no benefit. If they had at LEAST hooked them up with like the new looting UI from 3.23 I'd maybe have fallen for that crock of shit that it's revamping inventory. But as it stands the kiosk is just stupid. Very simple fix: Replace the drawer with a picture of my character and then when I click "Equip" instead of "open drawer" my character puts the stuff on. But this equip my equipment to the equipment drawer, that then opens to the old UI where I then equip my equipped equipment shit... not it fam.
  • This video revealed why i cant enjoy the game as it currently is, and not even 4.0 will solve the issue. The world they built doesn't feel lived in. An outpost with two buildings and a few landing pads with literally no npc activity is somehow a point of interest. We need these locations to be towns, settlements, and small cities. Remember that freelancer advertisement where that guy was chilling drinking a coffee while the staff at the landing pad unloaded his ship. Yeah thats what people have been waiting for, not this bs. Ps where are the robots? Where are the drones? We dont need pyro. We need Stanton reworked from the ground up because what they have designed simply doesn't make sense
  • @c-shepard
Absolutely agree, CIG seriously needs to fix interactions. Inventory is without a doubt the worst element in the game right now but the focus mechanic and scrolling up and down through elevator floor panels makes zero sense. If that's not bad enough it's even worse on gamepads. The whole thing is a problem. Should be like Subnautica, they nailed inventory management and interactions. Point and click, done.
