The thing about Punk Spider is that he actually embraces himself and expresses himself even outside the suit. He is who he is truly even being in a suit or not while the other Peter parkers have a different life of being either spiderman or something else.

I was afraid Hobie was all talk, especially after this line. But he proved himself to to deadass and I love him with all of my heart.

there's something here thematically about choosing to wear the mask, either a social mask or just using power responsibly however you wanna interpret it, where in embracing your own aesthetics and following your own sense of right and wrong makes you the coolest of all. all the spidermen are the same in philosophy, but wildly different as individual people and theres nothing that can break their sense of self. Miles and Gwen are still a little awkward under the mask because they feel isolated and not understood, but as Hobie says the best part about being spiderman is the independence. you're free to be who you want, and theres no use in bemoaning people only seeing one side to you. with the mask on or off, hobie is still the coolest realest around and nobody can take that from him

There's something to be taken from his statement. His coolness isn't determined by whether he's wearing the mask. Miles seems to be surprised that Hobie is "cooler" without the mask, which implies that Miles assumes that the mask, Spiderman, is always cooler than the person hiding underneath. However, Hobie's statement of, "I was this cool the whole time" means that he doesn't allow the mask, Spiderman, change how he perceives himself. Spiderman and Hobie are not two separate identities the way Miles sees it. Hobie just sees himself as Hobie. He's always that cool. Putting on a mask doesn't change that, whether you see it or not.
