I'm an Aussie and I've never seen this type of terrain or weather, but seeing it for the first time makes me think of the pioneers who tackled it with covered wagons, mules and bullocks. Many perished, but they laid the base for today's modern transport routes.

I cannot stop admiring the engineering and construction that was required to make this road such a marvelous sight.

I don't know how I found your channel but I am addicted! It's like taking a road trip without leaving home! I've always had big respect for truckers but I have even more now! Thanks for sharing what you do. I love your videos!

"Shotgun" or "riding shotgun" came from the days stagecoaches needed a rider next to the team driver to ward off bandits or Indians. These gunmen often used shotguns. Today it means riding next to the driver of a vehicle. I reckon you kept the name since it is used here in 2021.
  • This is the first time I have seen Colorado and I'm 51. I'm disabled and this was a treat for me and you make it enjoyable.

I’m a Brit and even I know what 'riding shotgun' means and I certainly don’t associate it directly with guns. A very enjoyable video through some beautiful country.

I am in my late 60’s and throughly enjoy riding along with you. You skills are awesome on the road and supurb narrations! Thank you for the scenery and sharing!
  • @1PlainOne
No...don’t change it, it’s a perfect description, your audience is riding shotgun. I’ve never owned a gun. ..but channel name is on point. Thanks for the ride.

This channel is one of the most relaxing channels on YouTube. Just riding shotgun in a big rig through different environments.
  • @tjhanlonjr
You have to gain momentum up the hills that's the only way your not gonna slide. You are totally right. Your speed Is not even an issue. Keep doing what you do bud you know what your doing.
  • What a beautiful scenery- Thank you,! Stay safe! 🌲🌲🌲☃️⛄⛄
  • As a Texan and former Utah transplant, I love your channel. It makes me want to move back up north. My mom an dad we’re truck drivers and we (kids) always would call shotgun! That way we didn’t t have to ride in the sleeper all the time. Thanks for the memories! Be safe and thank you!
  • @kerrin46
I enjoy riding with you. And as to “shotgun” well, that’s a part of Old West history and valid as an expression.
  • @staciemanns7077
Its just like you're in the truck too!! I love it. Love the scenic route!

I had to drive from Denver to home to Grand Junction with my friend's 120# dog who I had taken to Denver for surgery in DEC 2010, and they closed the pass behind us. Luckily I was in a 4WD Tacoma, but it was a five hour white knuckle drive at 30 MPH in almost no visibility with the roads completely buried all the way to Glenwood Springs where it finally started thinning out. The dog would periodically wake up and just howl, because he was still doped up from the surgery and a little confused and sore. Startle the crap out of me. I'll never forget that drive...

Glad to see this video still attached to the name "Riding Shotgun".
  • @tomt165
X over-the-road driver born and raised in Colorado, physically unable to do it anymore, GOD I miss it. thanks for the ride and don't mind the tears in my eyes.🥺😥😪
  • @equss1
You drive just fine & you have great skill in snow driving.... Drive on!!!
  • I like the name, you keep it! That's what the problem is now. To many people putting their nose in where it doesn't belone!
  • @joebarbjb6668
I ran these roads in all kinds good, bad, and otherwise weather for years. Retired and don’t miss this one bit, I hated it and the stress accumulating by the hour. I had flashbacks of hurrying up to get chains on in dangerous locations. Watched this then went and slugged down a few ounces of jack daniels.
