No clear winner here. Bottom line if you are a really good & experienced rider you can do a lot of technical with the 690 R and enjoy the impressive capabilities on road. As an average rider the 500 is a better fit for me. With it, I can push myself and despite the maintenance schedule, this bike is very cost friendly (especially when you crash). Choose wisely according to the terrain you like to ride. They are both amazing bikes!

That was great to watch man. Clearly very good riders and you both looked comfortable on those monsters. Great choice for that terrain.

I always enjoy the daylights out of your vids! I' gonna make it back over your way soon!

Awesome videos man, that climb and those falls at 6.29 🤙🏼

I know I’m late to party but this is f…king awesome stuff. The terrain around 4 minutes in looks tough. I’m a geezer (65) riding a Tuareg on BDR’s and I find it too heavy at critical times. I trailer from S Florida to mountains but I have to flat top it back to my car 100’s of miles when I’m done. So I’m up in the air on which one. 690-110 lbs lighter, 500-200lbs lighter. I can’t wait.
  • That was a genuine pleasure to watch! I am currently having the EXC 500 vs Enduro 690 R dilemma..

Cool video. I think I would love to have both these bikes, I'm looking for something a bit lower maintenance to complement the 500 for more adventure style riding but still have decent off-road capability. Not sure what bike would be the best fit for me though. I do love the 500 😍

I’m still debating between the two I’m thinking about doing 6070% highway canyons/Supermodel and the 3040% dirt single track hard-core stuff
  • Very nice video. I see you all are quite skilled in enduro. I know the 690 is a very tall bike with 91cm seat heaigh (with stock seat). Your friend seems capable to manage the moto very well , is a tall boy?
  • @jack4burns
Thanks! Based on what you're saying I think the 500 is better for me

Which one? I have owned a 690 in the past but never been on a 500. I did all Africa on an 1190 but want to go back and do a 2 month rip up through the middle of Africa, through some gnarly Congolese jungle, I just can't decide on 500 or 690. Which one would you take? I'm 6'2 100kg, 10-15kg of gear, will likely end up doing a fair bit of road, but in the bush it will be nasty, will have to pick up the bike 10+ times per day. I really don't know...

Hello there! How is your Montana mounted to the handle bars? Thanks in advance!
  • That must have been a good funny ride. Apart from the @2:40 seems you always manage to drop it quite gently. Such a dilemma between the 690 and 500. As I already have a 400 I better wait before I pull the trigger.

Great! Looks like fun. Where is that?
  • @induristan
Really enjoyed your video. I would always choose the 690 if I had to ride a single mile onroad. For pure Enduro I miss the Husaberg 390. Owning a 1090R, but coming from the 640 Enduro.... I wonder how a 1090 or 790 would be like on this track? Probably a nightmare ;)

What’s all crashes about? Is it difficult bike to ride, difficult terrain or your skills? Just asking to see it’s the right bike to buy or not.
