I have always wanted to visit Maya Bay after seeing, "The Beach." I just learned that the reason they closed it in 2018 was because it was seeing up to 5K visitors per day!!! The called it, "the beach that was loved to death." So they closed it in 2018 because most of the coral had been destroyed. They replanted over 30K pieces of coral to help regenerate the coral. The bay was reopened in 2022 and is now limited to 300 visitors. It's so important to respect this beautiful planet. ๐A bucket list destination for sure.

Koh Phi Phi has changed a lot. Back in 2002 there was only a small dirt track on the island (with big potholes). They didn't have any paved roads or paved streets.
