Studs and channels for interior

Its composition is galvanized steel type DX51D and galvanized Z140 or Z275 that make up the framework of the load-bearing structure of partitions, cladding, shelves, shelves and drawers. The C-shaped profile that is installed in a vertical position and that fits inside the channel is called a stud. The U-shaped channels constitute the horizontal element that is fixed to the floor at the top and bottom. Both profiles have a knurled aspect that ensures the fit. The uprights have notches or H-shaped openings in their soul that facilitate the passage of installations, for example electricity, plumbing...

There are several sizes but the most used are the 48mm and 70mm uprights and channels.
The uprights, despite the fact that when we work we use the name 48 or 70, one thing to know is that they always have a millimeter less than the channel so that they fit well inside it. For example, the 48 is 46.8mm wide and the 70 is 68.8mm.

These profiles are also used for mounting ceilings, especially when you don't have many options to hang from the floor.

I have used this video as a training video for my Mexican workers, here in mexico. We build low cost houses out of alternative materials...the usual is everything is concrete. Too hot and too costly now. This style of construction for small housing, reduces labor tenfold. I have 3 crews working. Have shown one crew this video and their work volume has increased many times over, even though they been working for us for two years. It is so basic in instruction, even Mexican workers can follow it and reproduce the quality and speed required to make this style of construction viable. They could not pick up the many other videos I showed them. Kudos bro. Well done!

Cristhian, muy buenos video. Es factible construir una casa entera de una panta (80m2) con perfiles de 70 y un techo liviano. Saludos
  • Interesting & many thanks for sharing your talent and experience. I noticed @1.52min a u channel splice is introduced. I wondered why IRC21, R603.3.5 Splice recommendation (~160cm overlap with 4-#8 screws on each side) was ignored. Inspectors might not be as accepting.
