Glad to see the “Scott bitches about a game he really likes for 35 minutes” genre is still alive and kicking!
-
"When they do your autopsy, you're going to have a different set of teeth." What a creative hate-mail threat! It's intimidating and it evokes curiousity at the same time.
-
It was legitimately so weird how all marketing around TOTK revolved around the sky islands, when they just ended up being a handful of small optional shrines
-
while i mostly agree with Scott, i’m very surprised he found out about gloom healing foods at the FINAL BOSS
-
Knowing that Link DOES speak, we just don't see it usually, and having him not explain what's going on to ANYONE is so strange
-
Scott missed talking about the 5th sage, which totally changes EVERYTHING by telling the sage story a 5th time!
-
The number one thing that threw me off in Tears of The Kingdom is how all of the sheikah technology was just completely missing with no explanation as to why. It just made it seem so disconnected from BOTW
-
Honestly I feel the biggest thing by far that holds TOTK back is how much it wants to copy BOTW in terms of gameplay but wants to disconnect with BOTW in terms of story. Copying the shrines, temple order, story structure, combat, enemies, UI, items, and unlockables to be nearly identical from BOTW makes the game feel way less unique and fresh. But at the same time, the game weirdly never wants to reference BOTW in the story at any cost.

The fact Scott told his followers on Twitter to upload a voice sample for him to use for a skit shows that this is already a brilliant video, but it’s wholesome for him to do that.
-
Scott uploading his Cereal video to the PH is still one of his best bits. It’s so simple to yet so effective
-
Scott's summary of TotK's plot is spot on. Also, I like how Ganondorf, for some reason, just chills underground waiting for you to get to him until the end of Link's journey. At least Ocarina of Time Ganondorf had an excuse in the second half, because he essentially won.
-
It felt like the sky islands needed more connections to one another. Maybe have a system of rails that go between most of them. Anything to keep us in the air for longer than it takes to boil relish.
-
Cant wait for the "scott hates tears of the kingdom channel" along with more hourly uploads.
-
Fun fact. If you don't do any of the dungeons prior to fighting Gannon, you have to fight harder versions of every boss in the game before you can fight Gannon. That includes the horde of enemies which you now have to deal with yourself.

20:31 something that I just realized that I really miss from breath of the wild is the little scenes that we got of the champions and their Divine beasts after you beat the dungeon. Revalis honestly made me tear up when I first saw it. Breath of the wilds story just felt so much more personal
-
Would have loved a town in the sky where the robots sell and have some more side quests.
-
Hey Scott, how could you not think this game is perfect? It added pinecones!
-
The fact that he asked his entire audience on Twitter to send in voice samples to use in this skit is awesome. It’s great to see he enjoys fan interaction. I think I heard the sample I sent in very briefly during the jumble of dialogue at the end. If so, thanks for including me, Scott!

I was so excited when Zonai were confirmed in the game. I remember how much speculation was around the Zonai, spawning dozens of theories. And when we finally get a chance to have the Zonai fleshed out… they aren’t. There are Rauru and Mineru and we learn very little about what the Zonai were like from them. And now Nintendo said they don’t plan on making DLC so I guess the Zonai will go down as a forgotten species in the Zelda games, unless they’re brought back in future titles.

This is actually the best and most thorough critique of TotK I've ever seen. Really helped describe how I've been feeling about the game.
