  • You are not alone. I am 55 (almost 56) and my life came to a crossroads at 54. I had the trifecta of ailments like you at 5'6" and 255 for the last 20 years...Type 2 Diabetes, HB and High Cholesterol. I had the same attitude you did..."I can't change that now so I will just ride it out and do what I can." BUT I was never serious. Wife and two high school kids kept me busy. Involved with Boy Scouts and my Church. Time flew by. In March of '23 I ended up in the hospital with multiple foot infections on my left foot that had gone septic. A week in the hospital and 3 surgeries later (the 4th was being lined up for amputation), the doctors got the infection cleared up. I spent 2 months at home is a hospital bed with IV 3 times a day. It was hell. I promised myself I would not go back to the old me. I changed my lifestyle once I got back on my feet last summer....I lost 85 pounds since then. I get up 4am and workout until 6am (ride the exercise bike, sit ups, push ups and weights) and top it off with a nice wet shave. That is my Zen. I went from a 46 waist to a 32. I feel and look like I am in my 30s (except for the white hair! LOL) YOU CAN CHANGE IT AROUND, but you should not wait until there is a crisis. Do it now. Little changes if you are young. Maybe a more serious change in your 40s. Sorry to babble. I am a new subscriber and like your content. Sam

My advice (if you want it) is to change your nutrition! I’ve lost over 100LBS and it’s been 5 years! I was a Big Mac away from a heartache! If you think you can’t you’re wrong! I thought I couldn’t and I did! I was 340LBS. Now I’m sitting around 220! You can do it I believe in you!

Don’t forget all the joints going snap, crackle, & pop and needing replacement.
