Despite the couple of mistakes, the girl in the red coat was the soul of the Sochi games. Considering what this kid had been through in the 10 days between team and individual events, it's unbelievable that she put out a performance of this caliber. And she sold it right through to the very last look over her shoulder; never gave up and never gave in to the crushing disappointment after the fall. Yulia was such a fighter and so iconic.

I remember this. I was randomly watching and I said, “I think I just watched a masterpiece.” I don’t even know anything about skating!
  • My favourite skater ever and this is by far the most emotionally moving program ever skated in Olympics, along with phenomenal flexibility and spins. Yulia Lipnitskaya was extraordinary and her flexibility and spins are still ahead of the Russian skaters who came after her. Miss her dearly.

I miss her a lotttt, i thought we saw the birth of Yulia´s career and many years were to come, but we only saw the birth of Eteri´s dominance and brand. I would love Eteri to start aiming for longevity with her students, otherwise following her skaters its just a bunch of wins for a season (more or less, but they defenitely peak before 17) and then bye, truly sad.

I wish things went differently in her career but she looks so happy now with her family, it makes me think everything happens for a reason. In any case, she'll forever be an icon of the sport and the face of the Sochi games.

I remember how transcendent she was, years ago. She seemed just naturally the best, in every gesture, with no equal. Then i read about her illness and challenges, and i was so sad for her. And she disappeared. And now, i feel the same. What a shame. I’d been hoping to be able to witness another great female skater for so long.

For some moment I clearly forgot this masterpiece was her routine and Yulia actually claimed her medal. It looked like she is improvising and telling her own story. This is, ladies and gentlemen, what undeniable talent is.

this performance will always hold a special place in my heart. always proud of yulia!
  • Yulia was the queen, the face, the heart and soul at those olympics. Her red coat, her stunning interpretation, her beauty on ice can't be forgotten. Yulia Lipnitskaya is in our minds when we think about Sochi. Yes, Mao Asada captivated us, but the first and greatest memory is Yulia, always. Long life to her.
  • Я не могу, как этот номер запал мне в душу. Временами пересматриваю. Юля очень артистичная и гибкая

That song from Schindler's Liste and the red coat... I almost cried.
