    I am torn between buying and restoring an old Joiner plane from eBay(Wood or metal) or buying a new one (Those from amazon, This, the Pinie, ECE or shell out much more for Benchdog or those similarly priced or higher.) $140 for what appears to be a solidly built Wooden Joiner plane(or a bit cheaper for ones from Pinie) does seem really appealing.

    When you said the plane design has been used for thousands of years, I have to admit that you lost all credibility to me. Unless you can prove me wrong, in which case, I'll buy a scrub plane from you.
