I have lower back issues that causes Sciatica. I love the Gibraltar Tall throne with foot rest. It’s pneumatic so it’s easy to adjust the height. It was the best $300 I’ve spent. Very sturdy, provides lower back support, easy to break down for storage and comfortable. Best chair I’ve found to play guitar.

I have never before heard anyone describe proper use of a strap. Such a simple thing to help control of instrument and wrist pain. Foot rest too, I for one am always concerned about my playing and don't necessarily think of thinks like comfort. Perhaps I'm just dense. Thanks for the info !!
  • I purchased the blue Vidami a couple of months ago. Really an excellent tool in this learning process of “my guitar journey. “
  • @wheresridgeville1
I use a mechanics stool. It's height adjustable and you can spin in circles.

Thank you Lauren , I am definitely getting that blue foot paddle.❤

Awesome lesson. People so often overlook the importance of the strap. Thanks so much.🙏🎸

I would add one item to the list: get a professional guitar setup. I had one done and it really helped the fingerring on the fretboard. My action was too high fot my old fingers. Thanks for giving me ideas for future presents from my wife! She always asks me what I want. I got a musician chair/throne off Amazon for around 89 dollars. It ihas a well padded seat and adjustable back rest. It is portable and has an adjustable foot rest. It is very comfortable and I am surprised how much better I think I play.
  • A drum throne. I have one of those for drumming. However i find an office desk chair works well as long as you get one with arms that swing up out of the way. I have a stage stool as well but i find it uncomfortable. the Office desk chair is much better and you can get one anywhere from $100 to $500 + depending on budget. The Vadami peddle looks interesting. I will look into that and see if it is a good fit for my humble studio.

When I get stuck and that happens more often than I like, I just have to tune into you for an hour or so and I get inspired all over again. I picked up a guitar because Covid stuck me inside. 73 years young. Thank you.

I have a Vidami (the less expensive, wired version). It's great, esp. the looping function.
  • @stanvice9945
I have a notebook! I write down my exercises I do, and the songs I'm working on. It's got hand written illustrations of open chords I made to remind myself. That's how it started. Since then, it's how I remember to work on everything. My metronome/tuner app (Soundcorset) tracks that part of the practice. I'd love to have the pedal thing. Mainly, to study strumming. I have really bad tinnitus, so I don't hear upstrums quite like I should. But, slowed down I can tell the difference.

Great things, that I did not know. The foot pedal is very neat, i thought i had to play an electric guitar before i would ever need a foot pedal. Cheers! Lauren
  • @robertq8412
Some of these I knew about but it's very useful to have reminders because there are times I get wrapped up in one thing and forget that such a simple thing as strap adjustment ( guitar position) can be a game changer . Thanks for the reminders

Very nice Lauren? Thank you. You are one heck of a instructor. One of the most enjoyable I’ve experienced. Loving my new hobby. 🎉❤
  • This is the second of your video's I have seen, and I can't get over just how helpful these have been. I thought my journey was over, I just couldn't get to grips with actually playing anything after many years trying and several in person teachers as well as every guitar tutor on the Youtubes. Now I have found a new way to move forward. Thank you Lauren for starting at the very beginning and thinking of the things most others take for granted!
  • @user-iamRobinV68
Lauren giving us the basics which are soooo important! You rock Lauren! 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

Lauren you are just wonderful. A positive and enthusiastic teacher with so much to give. Love your videos. I've been working with my guitar teacher on an a jazz arrangement of 'The Way you Look Tonight'. To see him smile when I added to the arrangement and figured out some chord changes on my own - priceless. Of course then he dumped about 12 chords on me with the jazz progression theory and I was once again back to 'I have NO idea what I am doing' but I love it. Jazz is something I treasure - wish it wasn't so HARD :)
