★MITSUBISHI LANCER 2009 ★ PARASITIC ELECTRICAL BATTERY DRAW FROM BLUETOOTH MODULE ★

We recently observed a consistent pattern of battery drain on a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer "ES" it started draining a fully charged battery every 3-4 days. We had NO idea what the cause was. We connected an ammeter to the negative side of the battery in hopes of isolating the drain. We were successful in solving this dilemma, so please watch the video for further details.

Someone give this Man a Medal ! He save us so much time and dedication! God bless this Man!

Amazing. Fixed up my 2008 Lancer. Went from a .32 amp draw to a .02. Just ripped out the Bluetooth module, not bothering to replace it, never used it anyways. My battery was dying daily. You're the best!

I've been struggling with this problem for about 4-5 years. As I drive my car almost every day, the parasitic draw was not enough to drain my battery flat, but I soon as I was away 2-3 days, I would return to a dead battery. You are a life saver.

In case anyone is wondering, this was the same issue on my 2010 Evo. This issues is across all Lancers. No more constant dead batteries!! Thanks!!!

THANK YOU! I have a 2010 Lancer ES that had to be jumped when it sat for more that 2 days, even with a new battery installed. I pulled the glove box and accessed the Bluetooth module just like you said to. It was very hot. I unplugged it and the current drain went from 0.46ma to 0.04ma. I never use the Bluetooth so I left it unplugged and now the car battery stays charged. Thank you again for this video.

Thank you so much for making my life easy without doing hardly any diagnosis, it was my module

Thank you for the excellent video! My mother's car was draining battery, and no one could figure out why. Bluetooth device now removed - and voila! 👍

About a 2 week update and my car battery has not died! This was the solution. Thanks again!

I did a multimeter test on my 08 Lancer yesterday and I have a leak on the same fuse. I was surprised because I said how can a factory radio drain a battery. I would not have thought about Bluetooth module. So, I came here searching and thankfully found this video. I'll go pull the Bluetooth module and hope that fixes it. I don't even use it anyway. Thanks a lot. This video probably saved me a lot of time 👍 Update: It was drawing 0.27A before Bluetooth removal and now it's 0.039A, witch is normal. So, that was it. Thanks a bunch!!!
  • I isolated the parasitic draw (300ma) in my 2010 Lancer down to the radio fuse. My battery was run empty after every weekend sitting at home. Your forum post was one of the first results I found after I went searching for a fix, so I went straight to the bluetooth module, pulled it out, and the ammeter dropped right down to 10ma! As with the others, you saved me a bunch of time fiddling with everything else on the circuit. Thank you for sharing! :)
  • Thank you based electrical investigator!. At the start of this problem I almost bought a new battery, than identified that the audio system was draining the battery, removed the fuse and drove around with a Marshall bluetooth-speaker pressed between the windshield and dash, for the last couple of months. :D Just found my stubby screwdriver, and i feel I will be enjoying that factory Rockford Fosdale subwoofer shortly! Thank You again! And the silliest part of this whole bull***t is that I have never even once used that hands-free Bluetooth module connection/feature in my Lanca' since I bought the car brand new, back in 2009. Because the whole setup between the car and phone and the interface seemed un-intuitive.

Thank you sir!!! 2010 Lancer parasitic draw. Been baffled for a year or so, couple dead batteries. Just went to take it out, got my Infrared thermometer, 92.8 F... Car has been sitting in a garage all day and night at 59 degree F. Gotta wait and see but I think that was it. Bluetooth went out on this car like 2 years ago. Thank you.

Omg you are my life saver I have an 08 VR-X lancer for the past week I have been having a massive drain could not find it even the auto elec couldn’t I’m almost certain this is my issue that and a non factory phone charger installed. I also have to add this is the best car vid I have watched Simple easy to follow love ur humour keep up the amazing videos
  • LIFE SAVER! Never thought of trying this. By touch it was so so hot
  • @Rsllxs
2009 Ralliart battery kept draining every other day or so, which eventually led to it dying every couple of hours when not in use. Tried this before taking it to an electrician or doing a parasitic drain test, and it has worked. Car hasn't died in over 3 days of being idle, Thank You! Note: Never even used the Bluetooth feature in my car yet somehow this was draining my battery
  • @Yousubovideos
A lot of thanks, 1 year with this issue and with your explanation i solved it.
  • @DanielMiyamoto
Thanks for posting this video. Well done, and informative. It helped me fix the battery drain issue on my car.
  • @Dansiman1
Thank you for this! I've had the same problem for several years, just been living with it and hooking up a battery charger each time I go too long without driving it. I knew about the lousy Bluetooth module from finding a forum post a couple of years ago, but until I saw this video I thought it was something I'd have to have a mechanic fix for me!
  • Thank you so much just saved me from going to the garage!! You’re amazing!
  • @MattSteez
Thanks a lot for the video! I have the same car and having the same problems. I think this is exactly what’s wrong with my car. Will update when I know
