"Risking it all, only to fall back where I started." This line is enough for me to play this reprise on loop. Hugs to everyone who can relate.
  • It sounds like a song the original mermaid (the one in the book) would sing before turning into sea foam 😢

Giving voice to Ariel's grief at having not only lost Eric to Vanessa, but also losing the chance to ever see her father and sisters again. You can just tell that Ariel is heartbroken over what she's done. Halle is amazing! ALso, the score sounds sooo sad towards the end.

Risking it all Only to fall Back where I started Back near the shore Back to before you took my hand Betcha on land they understand And they don't strand you brokenhearted What did I give to live where you are? Where do I go with nowhere to turn to? Man the lyrics. And the way Halle sang it makes it extra emotional to hear. 😭

“Mermaids can’t shed tears.” After reading the original book by Hans Anderson, this song is a lot more heartbreaking.

Was caught off guard hearing this in the cinema, just started crying actually. You can feel her emotions really coming out in this scene.
  • To have a beautiful voice is one thing...to move a story with your voice is another one. Halle is a story teller.
  • The lyrics are hitting me! “Where do I go with nowhere to turn to” 😭😭😭

Growing up, I loved Jodi’s version. Like all Disney Princess songs at the time, her voice was very pretty, Princess-like, and easy to listen to. But after growing up and experiencing love and heartbreak, Halle’s version is the one that resonates with me the most. You can feel the intense pining and emotion she has for Eric. Whereas the version from the animation seemed to embody a naive young girl with an infatuation, Halle’s version actually convinces me that Ariel is in LOVE and would die or give up anything for Eric. It sounds like love!

Anyone who has ever sacrificed a lot and failed can relate to the emotions in this song. People never talk about how hard it is to deal with dissapointment in life.

Literally most of us are wishing for a longer version
  • I need her in a leading role in a broadway musical within the next few years. She is BRILLIANT!!!!!!

"Where do I go, with nowhere to turn too?" So relatable yet so heartbreaking 😢 and Halle's voice breathtaking
  • “what did i give to live where you are? where do i go with nowhere to turn to?” I want to give her a big hug omg🤧 🫂😭

This is making me tear up and I don't ever cry during movies. This is proving how perfect Halle is for this role. Alan Menken's brilliant scoring is accompanied beautifully by Halle's ethereal tone and musicianship. I can't wait to see this in theaters.

You can really sense the heartbreak Ariel feels when she sings this. Halle sings it perfectly.
  • I’m so grateful to even live in an era where this little mermaid version exists 😭❤️
  • She’s going to be nominated for an Academy award, I am almost sure of it.

THIS. This is how you add a new song or something different to a classic. This is BEAUTIFUL. This makes me cry, I KNEW Halle would be the saving grace of this movie she’s got the perfect voice😭🫶💖
