Album in a day 2019: • Album in a Day 2019 (w/ Andrew Huang)
We booked a day recording session. Which standard for this studio is 10 hours. We had time to load in and when factoring in a break for the team, we had about 9 or so hours to write and record ten songs. So a lot of things were done in one take, much of the lyrics were improvised and the song structures weren't always very fleshed out. But overall I think what we came up with is pretty great! There are some good songs and a lot of fun ones. From punk to folk, we pretty much needed to record whatever was the first thing to come to mind. Hope you enjoy the album!

Someone give that engineer some flowers.
-
I don't think we made these songs fast enough Rob
-
System of a Down should do a challenge where they write an album in under 10 years.
-
Andrew when he sings: Lyrics mean something Rob when he sings: Ooga booga red shirts and stinky friends
-
I'm watching this again. I think recording "Two Friends" is the happiest I've ever been
-
The engineer's face when you told him you didn't have anything written... He immediately regretted coming into work that day.
-
"I haven't played live drums in a while" – All of my drummers before a gig
-
"i've been something all my life" deep
-
this should be an annual thing
-
I love how the engineer started out completely sceptical and then slowly became more on side as the project went. Amazing stuff
-
“IF YOU WANNA GO TO MY HOUSE, YOU’VE ASK ME FIRST” Lyric of the year for me
-
Just imagine being the sound engineer and 2 guys come up and tell you they haven't written anything yet but then they end up being 2 of the most talented dudes ever and they actually write an entire album in 1 day lol
-
Meanwhile whenever I click record, I instantly forget how to play guitar.
-
I don't get the hate towards the engineer. He was so cool about it. Got him all excited, you could tell his 'eyeroll' vibe got melted away by all the fun he was having just a few minutes into the video. He was mouthing lyrics, laughing a ton, big smiles, telling them "it's catchy!!". This man was excited to be out of his comfort zone, probably had a blast making music so hapharzardly for a change, without any seriousness.

Rob and Andrew have such different ways of writing music, their ideas, and their execution, and you would think that it would clash, but it actually works really well.
-
This is basically what Green Day did with father of all
-
"can we do it like BAM BAM?" "maybe if you could do like the BA KESH kinda " "yeah that's it" - how musicians communicate
-
At this point Rob and Andrew are just showing off how much more talented they are than us mere mortals
-
For them, writing an album in one day is a challenge. For Buckethead it was a Tuesday.
