More bass != better sound quality. The goal of headphones should be accurate sound reproduction. If you want more bass, that is what an equalizer is for.

Doesn't this experiment also just prove that people are more succumbed to bass and "loudness"? Also speaks for the success of the loudness war that has been going on lately.

u do the social experiment with a the 400$ beats and 190$ ATH-M50Xs audio technicas would kick beat's ass in all aspects

Compared my £70 Sennheiser HD 518s to my brother's £120 Beats Solos and can clearly see how messy the Beats are in the bass, mids AND highs. And i just want to say the Sennheisers are the most comfortable headphones i have every worn and would recommend them to anyone.

Noise cancelling Bose headphones, the ones I own, are less expensive than Beats and they're, according to me, a lot better.

This experiment would've made way more sense with ATH M50x's. Beats aren't bad, they're just bad for the price.

Yeah, how screwed was this test... You gave the advantage to beats by using a head phone of much lesser quality... why not bring on even a Bose headset vs. the beats? where price is equivalent ? big thumbs down... completely unscientific methodology. You guys should be embarrassed.

the average person will like the bests more because people think that more bass=better sound. You can get a pair of sennheisers for half the price of beats that sound twice as good, but sadly the average consumer doesn't really care about audio quality

if they had used something that didn't suck to compare to beats the beats would have been dominated

Okay so the experiment shows that people liked the beats when compared to that specific pair of headphones by Philips, that is all. Do this for 1000 people and maybe you can get accurate results to see which pair people liked more, not to mention that it depends on the person and the song being played. Some songs probably sound better than others to people.
