This is a guide on how to beat the Flamelurker boss in the 2-2 area of Demon's Souls. This simple cheese strategy works on both the PS5 Demon's Souls Remake and original PS3 version. In this video, we show you a very easy way to defeat Flamelurker. This strategy can be helpful to anyone struggling on Flamelurker or if you are doing an NG+ run or otherwise fighting Flamelurker when you are under leveled.

Using a bow or a spell-based ranged build, you can kite Flamelurker around the boss room with relative safety. As long as you can survive at least a single hit from Flamelurker, you should get Flamelurker down in a couple tries.

If you end up using an upgraded bow, recommending using one of the quality bows such as the Compound Short Bow or Compound Long Bow. The White Bow (if you have it) also works well. Pair your chosen bow with Holy Arrows, which you can purchase for 200 souls from Graverobber Blige. Holy Arrows do magic damage, which is Flamelurker's biggest weakness.

If you use a spell-based build, Soul Arrow or Soul Ray work well on Flamelurker. Just make sure to bring in plenty of Spices with you so you do not run out of magic.

Some flame resistant armor is helpful on this fight, but not required. The Thief Ring can be useful on Flamelurker as he will occasionally lose sight of you when you have it on. This gives you a great opportunity to get in some free damage on the Flamelurker boss or use consumables.

Note: you cannot cheese Flamelurker near the boss entrance rocks in the Demon's Souls Remake. The strategy in this guide is a good alternative to the cheese strategy available on Demon's Souls PS3.

you lost me at ranged build

THANK YOU SO MUCH. This boss is almost impossible on NG+, This strategy makes it very do-able!

I think I might have upgraded my mage too much, took about 5 homing soul arrows to take him down… definitely gonna retry that with only melee 😂

Thanks for making a good guide on this. Really helpful video. You make it look easy. I keep getting stuck behind a pillar and dying with the camera getting stuck in a wall. I'll try to keep moving and only use the pillars for healing.

Man, finally managed to beat this guys thanks to your guide... :) Spent more than 7 or 8 hours fighting this thing, collecting grass and what not... Cheers!
  • How do you combat the horrible camera? Whenn he jumps on top of you there seems to be almost nothing you can do? Ive tried disabling the camera right before but it still gets all goofy.

After more melee tries then I can remember using purple shield and Falchion +3, I used this technique plus Water Veil. Buy 50 or 60 Holy arrows from Graverobber merchant after you free him. I am a strength build so I had to upgrade Magic and Intelligence in order to get Water Veil, but that plus Holy arrows did the trick. I know many think Melee is the real deal, but when I play Soul's games I think that anyway I win is the way to play as the game is challenging enough for me. I like to use a bow and stay calmer with a bit of space from the enemies.
  • Yeah this made the fight trivial after he kicked my butt for 2 hours. Thanks a lot

Make sure if you’re going melee use the Crescent Falchion

This is one of the only boss fights in the game that I like. Maneater is good as well. Most of the other bosses are just too easy. Black Phantoms and red eye are usually tougher than anybody else in the game. I wish there were more boss fights like this

last time i beat him, i just got to lock the boss in one of that bone-made structures, next to the fog gate we enter the fight lol

A much easier way to defeat him with any build type (although less satisfying) All you need is the Thief's ring and one spell slot. Just put on the Thief's ring before entering the fog gate, and make sure you have Poison Mist spell equipped. Once you enter DON'T walk forward, just stay were you stop after entering. When you do, Lurker will not be able to see you, he'll just stand there. Then slowly walk (not run, or jog, walk!) the right edge of the area and walk around until your behind him, then once behind him, just stand there and spam poison cloud on him. He will not react. Takes about 10 minutes for his health to drain, but you'll kill him without him ever moving. Again, not exactly a satisfying fight, but its an easy win if hes frustrating you and you just wanna beat him and move on. If you happen to have two spell slots when fighting Lurker, you can use Cloak spell as well for a little extra insurance, Although i don't recommend using Cloak by itself as it may run out before you get behind him, and he'll spot you. But it works just fine with the Thief's ring alone. Works fine in NG+ and higher as well. It works on King Allant also, but the setup is a little different.

Lol I play as a knight and was struggling against this dude. Watched this guide and decided to take all my armor off and used my bow against him. Took 20 arrows and about 3mins first try Lol thanks dude.
  • @twixtwix2915
I beat him using a melee build and it was not fun. I had to learn all his moves and the tiny details that tell you what attack he’s doing.
  • @TheJaywoodcode
Thanks for the tip!!! I found somewhat of a glitch that basically you just sit back and shout him with arrows whiout all the running, dashing, and dying
  • @JonnyPlaysLive
This is wild, the boss seems to be way more aggressive in my game. Here he let's you be far away but for me he is just spamming the jump move that does a fire aoe (this is with the thief ring equipped too). So I'm getting hit continually by fire even though I I-frame the main slam and don't have time to fire arrows. Not sure if it was patched since then or if there's something I'm missing.
  • @WXYKE
Purple flame shield, stay in front of him, dodge what you comfortably can to save the heals you do use. I got the mace, magic enchant, and did 3 hits per attack chance. Flame resist ring doesn't feel like it does much here
  • If anyone is doing NG+ and you're looking to avoid doing melee, you can put on your thief ring and just poison cloud him from behind until he dies. Works for Maneater as well. Personally, I prefer to die a million times until I take all of the bosses down with my mace lol
