Speaking to Sky's Kay Burley, energy secretary Ed Miliband said the collaboration for the new state-owned Great British Energy would help "turbo-charge" the "clean energy revolution".
But Mr Miliband couldn't go into detail about how much would benefit to the King, saying "the money that GB energy puts in will generate a return for the taxpayer and for great British energy. The Crown Estate has its own finances."
He added: "Some goes to the king. I think that's a declining percentage but those are governed by separate arrangements."

The Crown Estate needs more cash. Royal Lives Matter. It's time to end years of discrimination and neglect. 👍
-
The royal family get an amount of Crown Estate profits set by the governement. It is categorically not the property of the royals themselves. Tell your MP the royals should receive a fixed sum, debated annually. They don't need a fraction of the money we gift them.

This is a moonshot but if it works my god we are going to have cheap abundant energy. IF. Good jobs will rocket. He’s right it’s a mix of government and private ownership. Most nations work this way. Our fully privatised system is not working.

Lets grow solar panels on our prime farmland, build houses on cornfields, lets embrace geoengineering to change the weather and wreck the harvest. Ed will be ok. He won't starve. Hes got loads of money to pay the premium prices.

They should get all the money and abolish the cap.

Time to get rid of the monarchy. Complete waste of tax payer money.
-
Partnerships by government means privatise profits and socialise loss, Mark my words profits will go to investors and public will take loss, and still pay a lot higher than necessary.

If he thinks he can get rid of gas and oil in 5 years, he is bonkers powering a whole country on wind and solar is nuts
-
I`ve got 2 kilowatts of solar and a 500 watt turbine. Making about 100 watts today. Enough to run the fridge lol.
-
Just said on the BBC News that the King owns the seabed.around the coast. Who gave him that?
-
Bring back cheap gas!
-
Electricity will be rationed out in the future their wont be enough to goaround 24/7
-
Why dont they put solar panels on peoples houses. starting with my house. 😉
-
Just love those views of prime agricultural land being covered by solar panels - and what good news that the crown estates are getting some extra funding...poor old things!
-
Not my KING 😡
-
Need to get rid of the wind turbines as they only make 4% of electricity and are a big BLOT on the landscape Ugly great things .

Wind power is a liability unless it comes with backup when there is no wind. The. scale of the operation escapes these people. The practicalities also impossible and the costs are overall in the trillions ,which they do not acknowledge . The first priority is conservation that is estimated at £5.5 trillion for all buildings. The public just do not have the money for all that is needed for electrification and losing gas that is 80% of domestic energy. All this comes at a price and billions is being spent that doesn’t even scratch the surface. We are needing 66000 heat pumps per annum til'2050. At present we have installed about 19000. In 5 years. despite grants up to £7.500 being available.
