This was the last set that Jørn Thomsen worked on before he passed. If you don't know, he designed almost every 90s space faction sets you can think of as well as many other LEGO classics. He started working at LEGO in 1986 and worked right up until the time of his passing in early 2023. Jørn calculated all the gear ratios for this orrery by hand(!) and the fact that he took so many of us on unforgettable memories into imaginary LEGO Space worlds to then finish his LEGO (and real life) journey with a set representing the celestial mechanics of his home system, is just a work of cosmic poetry. Vale Jørn! 🖤💜💙💜🖤

This is what technic is meant to be. I also love how open this set is so we can see all the gears moving
  • not technic fans say often that is very difficult to build this sets, but when you get the hang of it, is as easy as the classic system

This was on display at my local Lego store and originally I couldn’t care less but when I turned the handle I fell in love with it
  • This is legit one of the most impressive LEGO sets I've seen in recent years. I'm not a space guy but considering this for just the amazing mechanism. Great review!

After spinning it around for fun a little bit, I set mine as close as I could to the moon's cycles for this year. I'm having a ball right now with this set looking at how properly everything is lined up at the peak of the new moon for today's solar eclipse! It's so much fun to imagine the eclipse path sweeping across the Earth!

I liked this as soon as I saw it, but now when I look at the mechanism and how close it is to being accurate, I think it is amazing. This is exactly what Technic should be. I hope they do more like this.

I feel like if you've grown up on Bionicles, you'll have 0 issues with technic sets lol. It's just bigger, more mechanical Bionicle building experience and I love that
  • @tay-lore
I was really hoping, even though it seemed unlikely, that you would review this set! I love this thing! This is the exact type of model that technic is suited for. I don't understand the cars...
  • What a unique entry for this year's space... Event? Overtheme? It's the perfect approach to the challenge that takes advantage of the theme perfectly!

I’ve been waiting and hoping you would review this set! Thank you!🙏

I love Lego technic but I was on the fence about this one, after watching your review I'm definitely going to buy it, the designers are geniuses! The build looks like so much fun!

I just picked this set up yesterday! Haven't had the opportunity to build it yet but I'm excited!

Great set, I loved building mine, insane pleasure watching the workings
  • @spbrickstudios
Yet again, thank you for an amazing professional review!

Not so many people know this set but the Friends set "beach amusement Park" from summer 2023 is quite impressive with it's visible technic mechanisms that animate three fair stalls at the same Time, which Can be motirized

I can't wait to grab this one. I fell in love the moment it was revealed. This is the kind of set Technic excels at - one that proudly displays mechanical systems. This set even goes further and models a physical system that we all experience the movement of every day, and makes us pay attention to things we often take for granted. This set gives the builder a deeper understanding of science and engineering. I seriously doubt lego will produce a more inspired set in the next few years, and I don't say that lightly.
