This is one of the most Canadian things I've ever watched. Politely constructive criticism, no yell, just tell how the steak is and how it could be better.

I like how chill the Canadian version. And on top of that, you actually feel like you learned something.

On another note, cutting the steak vertically shows that the meat is consistent all the way through, rather than cutting it horizontally where the cross section is much smaller.
  • Atleast the judges in Canada taste your food completely, then talk about it. The ones in USA just spit it out, and make it a point that your birth had to do something with your dish.
  • Me: Eww that's raw Claudio: Boom that's perfect Me: It's perfect

  • @MBNHUE
Well, they sure did try their best to not make any "misteak"

“What is the colour that I will see when I cut this steak?” “Medium rare”

Slicing the steak vertically is a violation to the Geneva's convention.

I liked what they did in Masterchef Australia once, where during a pressure test, the decision was so close that they decided not to eliminate anyone since it was literally down to the tiniest of details which the judge decided wasn't worth someone going home for.

Marissa's steak looked the best in my opinion. Great sear and perfectly cooked. The other two ladies overcooked their steaks.

As a steaks & burgers grillman, I have to say that only 1 dish that can be considered to be a medium rare steak is the first guy contestant. The 2nd and 4th was a medium. And lastly, the 3rd and even the example is closely to be medium well already. Medium rare supposed to have some of rare part like 25% or less, but make sure that it still have some rare part. that's why it's called medium-rare.

honestly i like that they're really chill and it feels like you're actually learning something but since they praise everyone it's hard to tell who's gonna go home and if the judges actually made the right decision

Anyone else notice how all of their steaks were different shades of pink but they were all “perfect” 👁👄👁

Cutting steak vertically should be considered as a mortal sin.

4:50 Me: That's uncooked. Chief: That's perfect. Me: That's perfect.
